It is commonly worn in the Indian subcontinent in a variety of styles. It can be modest or sexy. I think it's beautiful, feminine and a good way to show-off your body.
What do you think about the Indian garment called sari?
It does look good. I see it sometimes here in Singapore, but more often than not it is wrapped too tightly around overweight Indian moms.
Maybe that is the norm in the culture, and as such I will respect it. But in my own humble opinion, it would be nicer to have a looser sari without compromising the integrity of the clothing, as this would be more visually acceptable for larger ladies, and more comfortable for them as well.
But, I have no say in this given that I am neither Indian nor female.
Although, I'm not the one who tells other people what to wear, I don't like women wearing saree in daily routine at home because this looks kind of uncomfortable as compared to the other traditional Indian dress salwar-kameez. (Let alone western wear)
But on occasions and parties, this looks one of the best, if not the best dress India has to offer.
I did wear a half sari for a party at school once. It was sort of mandatory to wear "traditional clothes" that day, lmao. Both my grandmothers wear saris every day. Personally, I find it uncomfortable, though, it could look flattering and elegant if the design is good. My mother does not know how to wear one though. She usually wears salwar kameez. I find that to be way more comfortable as well. I prefer western wear on myself though. I only wear salwar kameez or lehengas on special occasions.
