It's probably been about 8 years, when I went to work at the hosptial I couldn't find scrub pants that were the correct length. My mom had been teaching me how to use a sewing machine and so we decided to shorten up the pants ourselves. This was back when I could find scrubs in the stores, then I discovered online stores and could find scrubs with the right inseam length. It's still a valuble skill though I wish I would have kept it up. I've probabl used an iron once in the past two years.
I have a sewing machine, and a few needle kits. I used a sewing needle yesterday, to dig a sliver out... I know not what you meant.
Last spring, used it to re-attach some buttons back to one of my coats.
I actually make quilts with my mom and sister. I even made my little dog a winter coat so he won't freeze his little butt off.
Now for ironing, I don't do that too much... try to buy cloths that don't wrinkle, but sometimes.
I’ve used needles for removing splinters and sewing cloth. Not usually the same needles. I’m convinced i could stitch a mufugga in a pinch though. No joke. Not myself though. My own flesh and blood makes me lightheaded. Ell oh ell!
As I live by myself, I use my iron on a regular basis, ironing shirts, T-shirts, handkerchiefs, tablecloths and bedding etc. I like to hand sew and use my sewing machine when required. I hand sewed a pair of jeans I inadvertently put my knee through, I only wear the jeans when I’m doing jobs around the house, so it was just a quick patch up job.
I iron a few times a year. My time is more valuable so I usually use the dry cleaners. But, sewing, yeah I can do that. Maybe once a month? My kids think it's magic that I can fix stuffed animals, do buttons, sew patches, etc. My wife does seams and cool stuff with her machine.

I ironed my uniform earlier this year. I had to drive to my parents' house to use theirs. Part way through my dad told me I was doing it wrong and he did it for me 🙃
Dad = hero!
I iron my taekwondo uniform. Everyone else is wrinkles and laughed at me for the longest time. They are just jealous of my efforts.
They’ll remain jealous when your discipline is the reason they’ll never defeat you on the mats!
😁 Thanks.
Discipline is discipline. That’s not on me. That’s on you. “Chance favors the prepared.”
Truth. Look better feel better. All plays a part
Life's too short to squash clothes, wrinkles drop out simply by wearing them.
As for sewing if it's easier just to replace.
It’s not usually easier to replace clothes. And never cheaper. Ell oh ell!
You wait until you have a child who's favorite stuffed animal has a tear... trust me, your ass will happily do emergency "surgery" to make that stuffed animal whole again and get your kids tears dried.
Damn! Homie nailed it! AND brought tears to my eyes! Ell oh ell!
@Chazmatazz269 I agree me too @KrakenAttackin that's awesome way to use those skills!
I had just bought a mattress cover that was kinda expensive. While putting it on, it was torn in a few place. I had a little sewing kit I keep on hand - glad I had it.
I like to iron occasionally. Enjoy steaming more though. I’ve stayed in places for a time that didn’t have electricity, so it has made me appreciate the joys of luxuries like ironing.
It has been a while for the ironing, however I have ironed before. As for the sewing machine. I never got a hang of it but I do repair my clothes with a needle and cotton 😄
I actually had to borrow my mother's iron for a nice dress I bought for a work function. So the other day, but I borrowed the iron..😅 sewing needle, never.
An iron, probably a couple months ago I ironed a blouse. A needle just a few days ago sewing a band patch onto a vest I wear to metal shows.
I rarely iron my clothes since most materials are wrinkle free but I see regularly it's my craft of choice. And I knit...
I usually get my pants fixed at the seamstress but I know how to fix broken buttons or elastic bands in your clothes.
I was brought up in a family of 7, even as the elder brother I had to do my own washing (as soon as I was big enough to handle a twin tub), ironing, and sewing, and being single I still do them, not so much hand sewing now, recently bought a new sewing machine,
Clothing iron was 2 weeks ago
Sewing needle was months ago
I did some patch sewing on a leaf collection bag a few days ago.
I used a steam iron to facilitate some guitar repairs in the last few months or so.
It’s been close to a decade I’ve used an iron, but I stitch up ripped clothes all the time
I was 10 years old the last time
Geezus! It appears your ………..
Iron: EVERYDAY !!! Dress shirts, dreas pants, khakis/chinos after a wash etc etc.
Seeing Machine: once in 2-3 years when i buy new jeans or chinos and they need to be shortened.
I don’t even remember
The last time I can think of is when I used to iron my grandparents clothes as a kid. They still scold me for not ironing my clothes lmao
Cringe admission: that’s the reason for this question. I was judging a young woman for wearing badly wrinkled clothing. UGH! Ell oh ell!
It wasn’t even one of those things that “falls out” if you keep it in the bathroom as you shower. In order for it to look right, it HAS to be ironed. I was tryna not be judgy. Just couldn’t help myself.
Tbh all my clothes are always hanging up so I’ve never really had an issue with them being wrinkly. Or I just use those sprays on my clothes that makes the wrinkles fall out. If it were too bad though then I’d definitely ironing it, I couldn’t go out with clothes looking like a crumpled piece of tin foil 🥲😭
Maybe double and triple pleats went away, but they were a thing in my youth. You either bought permanent press, dry cleaned, ironed, or looked like an unlovable orphan. I ironed. Probably still looking like an unlovable orphan. Ell oh ell!
Ahaha, fair enough 😂 honestly if it keeps me warm then it’s good enough for me 😂
I have used a hand iron last year I have not used a sewing needle in years, maybe 20.
I love to sew so, quite recently lmao
I dig it myself! Mostly repairing things though. Well, ENTIRELY repairing things. I’ve “made” two things in my entire life. What do you love to sew?
I had to sew on a few buttons last week. Good thing mama taught me how to do that.
Iron: last weekend. I iron my work shirts
needle: about one month ago.
Years, quicker to replace the standard stuff or go to a professional for the complex
at 67 I can say never used one mum did then girlfriend now SO
Probably a few weeks ago when ironing a pair of pants for my nephew.
I have used both in the last week.
Nice! I’m pretty proficient but i haven’t ironed in a while. I’ll probably dig out the needle and thread this weekend.
Yesterday, had a loose button on my favourite shirt that I fixed.
I use a clothing iron almost every day to get my clothes ready for work
