Is my reason for growing long hair stupid?

I have decided to grow long hair because back whenever I experienced the most depressing/traumatic thing in my life (I won't go into detail) I had short hair. So I think that it would be nice to have long hair as a coping mechanism for myself as like I said I had short hair when I went through what I went through. Apologies for not explaining it that well. I don't really know how to put it into words. Can anybody suggest why I want to do this? Also do you think my reason for growing long hair is stupid?

You sound like a woman. Were you raised by a single, very emotional, mom? Or a dad who let your mom do anything she wanted to?

I'm not saying a guy can't have long hair but your reason for doing it is in the category of having a support dog or people who literally hug themselves.

Personally, yes I find it stupid. Should I care if it helps you? No. I just hope you're reading up on hair care and relevant products that help you maintain a magnificent mane.
