Has this ever happened to you before?

I keep smelling incense. Not the typical kind, like sandalwood or some other fragances I've seen in stores. This smells like something you would smell inside a church or something. And the problem is, I dont' burn any incense, and all my windows are closed, so it's not coming in from outdoors. It's comes and goes, and has been going on for about an hour or more. What could be the reason I am smelling this odd scent?

I once smelled a strong fragrance when I was out in my backyard raking leaves years ago. This reminds me of that--but this is not perfume. It's a weird, od fashioned odor.

It's Fall. Did you just recently turn the heat on? When a furnace that hasn't been on in awhile first goes on, it often emits an odor as it burns off accumulated dust and moisture. That you said the odor comes and goes is also a hint that it's the furnace, as it comes on for awhile, heats up the area and then shuts off until it repeats sometime later. Your furnace would be my guess.

Well no, I've had the heat on today on and off, but this smell has been here for over an hour only. My furnace doesn't smell this way.

This is fascinating, but, no, I have never had this happen! Almost cool. Possibly some sort of deja vu that's connecting to or pulling on your olfactory senses?

I sometimes smell something burning but it's like the restaurant near my house makes BBQ or the neighbors grilling

That's pretty normal! This is in the middle of my living room and I smell a weird, old fashioned incense. Not as weird as smelling the very strong perfume scent that i ahve never smelled before on my bakyard. This was one November or so--and no one was around at all, not a neighbor, etc.

People who have sudden onset of seizures report something just like this. Any other body symptom accompanying at the time of scent…

I'm pretty much aware of my surroundings, so no seizures. I've heard of that , though.

When you replied to my question--I thought you were implying I might be having a precursor to having a seizure. I know I can't read you mind; you can't read mine either for that matter--but there's no need to get nasty.

my husband is a carpenter, sometimes the sap from trees can give off a pine smell

most I think talk then maybe think, opinions may differ, but I know I'm not right all the time, but a lot think their word is law
