Recently, I was speaking with a trusted work colleague and friend. We spoke two days ago, and have worked closely on many issues over a number of years, but we don't speak outside of work.

This morning, I was advised that he has been arrested and is the prime suspect in a case of first degree homicide! I don't know the victim or her relationship to my colleague, but she was stabbed to death and set on fire! None of this makes sense with person I know!

UPDATE: My friend appears to have murdered his aunt over a failed arranged marriage! I guess the truth will come out at the trial in a year's time!

Really makes you question people, doesn't it. I was a teenager at the time, though, so I don't bother analyzing whether I saw, or didn't see the signs, though. Now, I would analyze the shit out of it.

Not that exact scenario, but when I was younger I used to work as a guard at jail. There were actually multiple occasions when I would go in to work and be surprised to see one of my friends locked up in the jail cell for some kind of serious crime. I also worked on a welding truck with one guy who turned out to be wanted by the police. He was gone before they ever showed up.

No, but I DID experience the reverse; a guy I knew in college at one point prompted me to say to another classmate "Someday, we'll be seeing him on the news and tell our kids we went to college with him.". It turns out I was wrong, but only because he was arrested SO QUICKLY that none of us had had the *chance* to have kids.

Well, sort of- he was busted for weapons possession, but obviously not the more serious crime he was PLANNING.

Good grief! No this hasn't happened to me. There have been some surprises within legal realms that have popped up with colleagues and friends of friends so to speak, but I don't know anybody who has ever been involved in a murder investigation. Hopefully you don't get dragged into this, but I'm sure that if that does occur you will keep a level head.

I doubt the police will want to interview me. Unless it's to help them determine his state of mind before the crime was committed. But I doubt anything I could say would have any bearing on his case.

Ironically, in meetings, his was the calm voice of logic and reason. He never flustered. He was a solid stand up guy, who never bad-mouthed anyone!

Agreed, but what makes truly terrifying us that if met this guy, you would NEVER in a MILLION years suspect that he could capable of this. Now, maybe he'll be found innocent, but right now he's scary AF! What makes a person SNAP?

Well not exactly although I knew of a former co-worker who went to jail for domestic assault of his girlfriend and I would have never guessed he was an abusive person. Not homicide though and in such a brutal way, that would be difficult to reconcile for sure.

Not exactly as this. The closest I've come to this are co workers who committed suicide overdosed, robbery, were arrested for drug dealing, wife beating or attemptive murder (choking a girl, hitting someone with a car and attempting to stab this was all in one case though). I've known of other folks who were not co worker who were wife beaters, sexual molesters or drug dealers who got in trouble with the law. Knew someone who burnt a building down (no one was inside it).

Well for now just ride it out and hope the law does a proper investigation. Let there be evidence given to to prove him guilty or... Not guilty... Have to wait for the trial.

Oh wow im not even sure. Probably but i can't really remember. I dont think the people i knew killed anyone but i think they were the ones killed. I didn't find out til months/years later. My classmate was killed and thrown in a ditch. people searched everywhere for her and she was sadly in a nearby ditch the whole time. By time they found her it was like 6 months too late

They claim it was her boyfriend but i think it was someone else. It was sad because she had a kid and went missing a week before Thanksgiving so the kid had to spend Christmas without her. They didn't find her til the summer time

I didn't see it. I was in my office when people started piling in screaming, "He has a gun!" Outside, he killed one person and injured 3, then he fled. It was a big ordeal because the police surrounded, not just my building but the entire property and wouldn't let us out while they were looking for the gunman.

Yes, I was okay. I was only 19 and shaken up after that, but I learned that people can be unpredictable.

But it's must be a scare for you. When a person you saw as a friend ends up being a killer. But sometimes the less you know the better, it keeps you alive and monsters prefer to keep a low profile.

I'm not as much scared as confused. Someone who I knew as a trusted colleague and friend, who was laid-back, funny, friendly and always helpful to newbies.

What transforms such a person into a killer within two days?

We imagine that we can ALWAYS easily spot the crazies and psychos. But can we really tell the monsters and killers?

Crazy story. Yes I have worked with people I was friends with at work but not outside work that have shocked me with behavior outside work. Someone I sat next to was arrested for abusing kids. Not as bad as your story but still bad! Never saw him again, he was fired or asked to leave

To maintain privacy, I won't mention details, but something like that has happened to me.

I worked with a guy who was arrested for killing his wife. Apparently, they got too carried away having sex and he inadvertently strangled her. Never had any idea that he was like this. At work, he was a nice guy, rarely said or did anything bad.

I was given a helper for a job I was doing and I’d call his name he’d never respond. He was a big latino guy full if tattoos but very polite and helpful we got along great.

Finally told me he wasn’t using his real name because he wouldn’t get hired. I looked up his real name he was previously convicted for slashing someone’s throat and stabbing someone in the chest.
