For Christmas or their Birthday, you buy them an expensive toy, a life-size house or electric car. It comes in a big box, which you set aside after helping them open it. Later in the day, you find them playing in the box... forget the expensive toy.

Lmao thats funny 🤣 I’m no parent but I’ve assisted in childcare and witnessed this a lot. Its too funny. I tell people all the time that kids under 5 really dont care that much about certain toys. Its once you get to school and see what your classmates have that you feel like you should have it too

Having cats while growing up has prepared me for this. Bottle caps become hockey pucks that get batted under the fridge, wads of paper have more appeal than any toy you can buy, and cats will squeeze themselves into any box no matter how small. I’m due later this year, so I’m holding on to a few boxes for the toddler stage. I just have to keep the moms from going nuts buying clothes and toys. They’ve already started.

Yes, my daughter did this all the time. She would enlist my services to cut windows in the box and make a little house/fort out of them. Draw all over it with crayons and personalize it.

She would set it up beside her little mini table, and invite me over for tea and cookies at her place. For some reason she would insist on having an English accent, and sound like someone's granny.

I'm not a parent, but I am an uncle, and in anticipation of this, I once bought my niece a box of boxes. Her parents were baffled, but once I explained it to her, it went over amazingly; I was the cool uncle for quite a while.

I got my cousin's kids some gifts in December and my niece did not like the gifts I got her cause I asked her if she liked it. I think her brother liked the gift I got him. And children are honest cause adults usually lie if you ask them whether they like their gifts.

Yes. I remember one Christmas when he was about three years old. I had bought him battery operated cars you control with hand.
He was more excited with the batteries than the toys. Maybe I should have just bought him a bunch of batteries without the toys 🤷🏼‍♀️

The US National Toy Hall of Fame, did some some research on this and found the best toys ever were boxes and the common garden stick.

Many, mant times. Beginning with the baby that prefers an empty plastic water bottle over every toy imaginable. I have so many pictures of my kids in boxes. 😂

Well, my children are now adults, so they don't do that, But! my cats do jump into boxes all the time. Except the 22 yr old one.

I do not have children. In the past, I have had step-children but the youngest was 13 years old when I came into her life.
