Why are blue and green eyes considered more attractive in countries like the UK where more than 80% people have them?

It is nearer 48% are blue and 30% green but the interesting thing is the incidence of those colors have changed from being rare to prevalent and brown eyes are down to 22%.

What this saying to me is that blue and green were seen as hot and got more sex. Then blue or green guys got with blue or green gals and then it really ramped up. It is a recessive gene so both parents have to have it.

So you could a brown eyed population suddenly becoming blue eyed because the recessive gene is lurking behind the brown eyes.

Blue eyed guys definitely prefer blue eyed girls. If she has a brown eyed baby she has done it behind your back.

Like blonde hair they are associated with youth. Both hair and eyes have a tendency to darken as a child matures.

Likely the preference originally evolved to induce parents to give extra care to the youngest.

But, once that happened there was evolutionary counter-pressure on children to keep their light features longer and longer.

Eventually some evolves to never loose them at all and their descendants are still reaping the rewards of lifelong attention, today.

Since its rarer I guess, same reason why people like red hair. Blue eyes might be associated with innocence so guys might find it attractive because of that (a lot of angel paintings and kind characters in media have blue eyes).

I have green eyes and am white and no one else in my family had green eyes except my grandmother and great grandmother on my father's side of the family.

Sounds like a stereotype, blue and green are rare even among whites, so uniqueness value.
