What is up with girls wearing long sleeves and short shorts together?

Like this... it just doesn't make sense to me.

The long sleeves and short shorts combo is one I've seen on girls quite a lot... in fact, almost half of girls seem to do it at one point or another, but I've never really understood it.

First, it doesn't really make any logical sense. Long sleeves are supposed to keep you warm, short shorts are supposed to keep you cool. Putting them both together kind of goes against both of their intended purposes.

Second... it doesn't really look good. Showing absolutely no arm and showing so much leg just looks really unbalanced. It kind of just makes the girl look like she forgot her pants at home.

Third... how is it even comfortable? Wouldn't their legs be cold? If anything, since girls usually shave their legs and don't shave their arms, short sleeves and long pants would make more sense in a comfort sense.

But maybe I'm just overthinking all this. Maybe it's as simple as "they just think it's cute," and it stops right there.

Now that you said it it is kinda weird and funny lol I'm assuming they get cold/hot very easily type, so they try to keep a balance? Maybe their arms get colder faster than their legs or their legs get hot or stay the same. I don't know it is funny though 😂

Eh. Who knows. I don’t question things like that much. I’m sure I do things that make no sense too.

Sometimes I’m lazy and throw random clothes on. That’s probably what they do too. Sometimes I have worn shorts and long sleeve shirts.

I have done this before. My legs are muscular and never get cold so it's no big deal unless it's really cold. My arms are much thinner and I get colder, so sleaves allow me to pull my hands in to stsy warm.

But this isn't something I do often.

Outfits don't have to be logical and "it doesn't really look good" is your opinion.

That's like saying it's weird for someone to wear short sleeves or a tank top while wearing pants/ jeans.

I weart shorts matched with jackets and coats all the time. My legs are more tolerant of the cold and I don't mind them being cold when it is.. I do mind my whole upper body being cold.

The picture showed shorts you can see at least. I recently lived next to a high school and was appalled at the fact that so many of them wore shorts you could barely see extending past the long sleeve gaurmant.

I have no clue how neither their parents nor the school allow it.

I dress like that a lot, shorts and a hoodie. It’s because my legs don’t get cold but my torso does, and if I wear long pants and a long shirt or jersey, I overheat, and if I wear shorts and a shirt top, I freeze.

That... actually makes a surprising amount of sense. I myself usually wouldn't word it as harshly or accuse anyone of being "desperate," but it does make sense. It's basically trying too hard to pull off both modest and sexy at the same time, and in the end creates a really awkward, unbalanced look.
