Some guys say my hair looks better loose and that my pigtails aren't for me and don't look good lol...

Why do they say that my hair Doesnt look good in pigtails?

I disagree... Pigtails look cute in my opinion and loose hair is quite plain and boring and most girls here in Greece wear loose hair.

You have a very intelligent, but of course attractive face, that kind of conflicts with the playfulness of pigtails. Could I suggest something? Maybe a side ponytail or braiding? Ponytail wouod still be playful, but asymetric, so a bit wild, or braids for a look to do your smart face justice? Just a thought, you asked lol

I always found pigtails to be childish. Not saying you are, but having your hair flowing loose is (in my opinion) more mature and adult like. I don’t mean anything here as an insult and everyone’s view is equally valuable, especially yours since it’s your hair.
