Have you ever had to wear braces, or the dreaded retainer to high school?

I didn't get braces until I was a Sophomore and got them off as a Senior. I actually probably could have gone without them and wound up with slightly crooked teeth. But the guys thought I looked cute in them. There was one girl in Jr. High who had to wear the bridle bit looking retainer. You know, the one that looked like a cross between a coat hanger and football helmet face guard.

When I was 5, I fell off my bike on my jaw so my tooth got shoved through my bottom lip. Messed up my bottom teeth. I was supposed to wear a retainer. I did for two days. Lol.

@DubiousIntentions I guess it's a masculinity thing. It was cool jumping ramps with our bicycles. The girls were impressed by it. It wasn't fun when my 2 bottom teeth came through my lip though. I needed to get 12 stitches

Because it's fun. I wasn't trying to impress anyone. I guess it's like a thrill to do so. Yeah, I got hurt many times but nothing bad. Once I walked my bike home about 2 miles while bleeding from my hands and knees.

no, I have a crooked tooth but when I was a kid nobody got braces. If s kid had buck teeth people just called him Bucky Beaver.

Yes. From the 7th grade until the 11th grade. I had the ceramic ones, which at the time were relatively new, if I remember correctly. Most people didn't even realize that I had them.

yes, was awful as they were all metal. I was a mess, but they fixed me up nicely.
