ZZ Top made me love beards. They are too iconic for me. And I think a person who has a well-groomed beard is no different from a woman with makeup. They are not for everyone..

I used to have to grow a long beard for work. I do one every winter because winters are rough here and I'm outside a lot, either for races or working in the yard/around the house. Occasionally my coffee will freeze in it, but it keeps my respired moisture when I'm breathing heavy from freezing on my skin. Comes off every spring because screw carrying that around in the high humidity ruck marches.

But I do appreciate a beard on my face though. It helps give the illusion of more defined jaws, jaw width, & good chin projection. Also, I have an abnormally long philtrum length so I look better with a mustache. Otherwise I'll end up looking more ape-like than what is deemed attractive.

I am not a fan of big hairy beards, but a neatly trimmed very close shaved beard can look nice.
