It appears 100% of men agree with my father but maybe not all the women. Mothers may be more liberal, I have a friend who lives with her mother and she can wear similar shorts.

A few minutes ago, I watched on YouTube a "FreshandFit" video and most of the discussion was, "Women seek attention and men seek sex," and I can see that is relevant. I bought the shorts to get attention, I wasn't thinking about sex. However, as several men have explained to me, when men see me in those shorts they think, "Maybe I can have sex with her." It was not my intent to send them that message which makes me think that I should consider, "If I wear this outfit, what message am I sending?"

But, there is something unspoken that the females here may not realize...

We - adult males - KNOW what it's like to be a young male like a teen boy or in our 20s.
We know that hunger.
We know that reproductive "predatory instinct" with apparently fertile "ripe" females being the "prey".
And, worst of all, we know how trivialities like legalities and mores get tossed out the door when a "hungry" male sees a "ripe" female nearby.
The male reproductive urges at your age and over the next couple of years that the inhibition center of the brain - that part of the brain which prevents you from doing "bad" things - can be compromised or overridden. Seriously, when I was your age, I was pretty much insane about girls and, looking back, did things that I am not proud of and should have had my ass kicked from here to the moon.

We adult males KNOW this about young males. We know this at an almost instinctive level because we were that way.

Now, as fathers, we want to protect you and one of the things we are protecting you from is your ignorance and underestimation of males your age. A boy whose inhibition center is overridden may overpower you and sexually assault you or even rape you.

Sure, we understand that girls want to know that they can be attractive to boys. There's nothing wrong with that. But girls not understanding the strength of that male drive is what can get them in hot water. And, shorts like that are just a form of bait to the "sharks" that are teen boys and young men.

We've seen plenty of proof that there is no correlation between lack of clothing and rape. Hell in the middle east in cultures where women are required to hide 99% of their bodies surface area rape is still very common. On the other end of the spectrum in nude communities I don't believe rape is common at all. But I haven't fact checked that last part so don't take my word for it.

I love attention and my first thought was, if Hooters Girls' new shorts show just as much then these shorts should be okay for me. However, I'm compelled to think again when 90% agree with my father including a couple with detailed explanations. Fresh and fit are sometimes very perceptive in calling out the problems in today's society. However, when they offer a solution, it is terrible. Because unfortunately their opinions are askew.
It is true though, that men would see you as in some way offering yourself sexually to them. Even if it is just giving tacit permission to be ogled. It doesn't matter what you intend, because your intent cannot be translated into clothes that easily.

One thing it will definitely signal is that you consider yourself a sex object in some fashion. And therefore you give men permission to treat you that way.
