Like you can see a total stranger and think “Oh, he/she is so nice looking.” Or “They’re cute.” Or “Their outfit is nice/cute.” And you can see someone else who looks totally different than the other person you complimented but the compliment remains the same. That they still look just as nice, handsome, good looking cute or pretty although they look nothing alike.

Pre mass media every woman was attractive. All were physically fit because lifestyle and social norms gave people all the exercise and proper nutrition. This lasted long beyond the start of mass media too. I grew up in the 70s & 80s. I personally did not see even one fat kid in school/growing up. I knew of 1-2 fat adults out of 1,000s I saw. People still paid money to go to the circus to see fat & fugly people. There were a few kids who we THOUGHT of as fat but today you would not think that. They were stocky/muscular. Not sloppy. One "fat" kid I knew went straight from school to the military and passed boot camp like it was nothing. And he was the most out of shape guy I knew in high school. Ha ha ha. I was a nerdy type and I was bench pressing more than my body weight in my sleep & could run/walk miles as effortlessly as you use social media. But I'll spare you the stories. You get the idea.
Back in the day character was super important because everybody had that fit body. Yes, some faces looked better than others but everybody agreed that character was important too. Even people with sucky character knew they had to fake having better. Today you have all these people who have zero standards and want others to give them a pat on the back for being lazy, self-centered, rude and so on. Women have gotten way less attractive over the last 20-30 years. Maybe men too but I only ever looked at women like that.
Anyhow beauty is both black & white and not. What do I mean by that? There's no "one look" that is best. However, don't go telling men that we don't have a right to preferences/opinions in how a woman should look... yet women have every right to spout about their preferences & trying to dictate to men how to think. And I think character IS black & white and it is a big part of being "beautiful" to any guy looking for a serious relationship. If you ignore serious relationships then there's way more leeway.
I think Dune (2021) is a case study on this perspective. I mean, this cast had me drooling. So we're got your heavily masculine Aqua Man, thin and pretty Timothee, the absolute essence of a dilf in Oscar Isaac and to top it all off, ZENDAYA.
They're all incredibly hot and for incredibly different reasons.
I do believe it’s subjective but there are still some features commonly thought of as attractive. If you put two pictures of two women in front of a 5 year old of a person one with acne and one without I’m guessing the 5 year old would say the one without acne is prettier.

Considering how many guys disagree on this site alone on a girls looks i'd say thats pretty true. For example I like more slender natural beauty girls, so I prefer a 34B / 34C breast size. Other guys want breasts as large as possible or like a curvy / thicc girl with makeup. Some love blonds the most, some love brunettes the most. You can keep going like that. I have posted examples of girls in the past who I found beautiful and got replies "Dude, she's just average" while finding the girls they liked less pretty.
I don't know of anyone who wouldn't find a person more attractive when the only things that changed were an increase in the health of their skin, endocrine system, cardiovascular system, digestive system, neurological system or musculoskeletal system without the use of steroids. If such a person exists, I wouldn't say they're attracted to anyone, but may see pthers as tools of interest, since they don't desire anyone's wellbeing.
Aside from all of that, there's a tremendous, non-fixed variety in aesthetic tastes and forms.
Attractive doesn't come from a commercial cookie cutter. I see lots of beautiful women and they all look different from each other. When it comes to choosing your preference, it's subjective. Hair, skin and eye color; facial features; tall or short; thick or thin; big or small boobs; muscular or soft; etc.
The same is true for women's attraction to men. Thin, muscular or burly; baby faced or grizzled; body hair or no; etc.
Because everyone is different, there is a wide range of what is considered attractive. I mean, do any hot celebrities look alike? Does everyone have the same celebrity crush?
And I'll say that some celebrity women who are praised as being beautiful aren't my cup of tea at all.
Even when I scroll through photos of bikini models, there are only a few that suit my preferences.
So I'll argue that beauty is definitely not as black and white as advertisers make it out to be. I don't even think that society agrees on a beauty standard. It is subjective and there are many different things that people are attracted to, but most people are attracted to specific features. That's why models are usually found attractive by most of the population and usually get the most attention. And it's why attractive people usually have an an easier time getting jobs. They're also perceived as more competent in the workplace. So I do believe there are black and white lines when it comes to beauty.
Most men would find this girl to be attractiveBeauty is not only in appearance, but starts from the person heart, and shines out, and it's also how a person really sees themselves that makes their good looks, that much so can see a very good looking woman sexy but have a ugly persona, and a bit so good looking lady but has just the most nicest friendly was about her that's the real beauty of a person their personality and how tiey treat others and carry themselve
I believe it is black and white. Beauty is more objective than subjective; once the basic threshold is met, then preferences come into play (such as eye color, hair color, skin color, etc.). There has been many studies about beauty, and even babies have preferences for more attractive faces—before they were influenced by societal standards.
There are some near universal traits of beauty eg. in women, clear skin, shiny long hair, good hip to waist ratio, symmetry, etc. These are all indicators of symmetry. On top of this things like skin color, eye color, etc. are personal preferences.
Everyone is beautiful to someone and ugly to another.
There are people in the world who think you are the ugliest thing that exists, and some who think you are the most beautiful. Either way it's superficial to think on beauty alone.
Yes. I agree with you. In fact, I could honestly say hollywoods ideal of beauty usually is not mine. I hope women know enough to recognize that the models and actresses on mainstream feeds are rarely what men think of as being attractive.
Definitely there are many forms of beauty. It's not just VS models that are beautiful even tho that's what media tries to shove down our throats as what beauty is.
A classic "Twilight Zone" episode comes to mind, ending clip here:
https://www.youtube.com/embed/4WdtAj8jYMMJust like art, it will always be subjective. Many times, many people's preferences will align to find someone attractive; so much so that it appears as being a standard.
Not so sure it is society or just advertisers. Most of my friends and I look at those lists of "Most beautiful" and find at least half the people on them average at best.
She's either pretty or she isn't. Everyone is going to have a different opinion on the attractiveness of that same person. Now she can also be very pretty and be a total bitch too. Or just have so many problems she's undatable.
Oh, I absolutely believe that, because for me, her personality is what matters most.
I think the fact that women can look beautiful in an infinite number of ways is a wonderful thing.
True beauty is not outside the real beauty is inside you in that do you love your self
Do you love a friend that maybe become a spouse. Do you love Your children now or when they come in life.
Beauty is the icingBeauty is important period. There's pretty privilege.
No question. What we perceive as beauty is mostly societal programming. But people don't like to admit (even to themselves) that they're they sheep that they are.😆
I like guys that look different. If you like people that look exactly the same, that's called a fetish.
