Why are these clothes seen as feminine?

Why is it that when it comes to clothing, wearing clothes with bright colors, complex patterns, and lots of designs especially clothes that cover only the lower body are seen by some people as very feminine while plain (no designs or patterns) clothing with dark colors are seen as masculine?


I am not being sexist. I just want to know why some people think this way?
