Is thinking no one will recognize you just because you changed your looks too naive for even a teen girl?

Many months ago, some girl in my HS really thought some people wouldn't recognize her just for getting rid of her glasses (replacing it with contact lenses), switching hair style, dying her hair and changing the way she dresses up. Some people complimented on her change while others thought it was overdone but she was 100% obviously, still recognizable. After a while, it got old and no one was impressed anymore nor care too much.

She watched an old, Spanish soap opera called Soñadoras (dreamers) where some awkward, shy girl changes her posture, her hair style, clothes and attitude and her classmates don't recognize her. She gives a false name and they all think she's someone else. LOL

Is this too naive for even a teen girl?

She really believed on that soap opera and got disappointed when all of us recognized her.

Yes, too naive for highschool in my opinion, seems more like something maybe a middle schooler would believe (tho nowadays I doubt middle schoolers even would believe something like that). Dunno maybe she’s sheltered or a big dreamer. I think there’s nothing wrong with wanting to change or glow up but personally I think it’s a little embarrassing to believe people wouldn’t recognize you and even more so be disappointed they did. I don't know I’m probably just too judgey tho or being a bitch lol

Indeed and I believed she's sheltered. I've seen her parents picked her up once and the mother sounded very strict. I don't think she has much of a social life outside of school and her house. In addition, I've searched the soap opera she was referring to and it's old, it runs back to 1999-2000, when I wasn't even born yet. Many things have changed since then.

Yeah just changing looks isn't going to get her more friends nor a date if all she's relying is on physical changes.

It's a classic storyline, right? Changing your look can definitely make you feel like a whole new person, and it's understandable why someone might hope it would change how people see them, too. That said, expecting people not to recognize you because of those changes might be a bit naive. Everyone’s unique features and personality traits tend to show through, no matter the makeover. Indeed. What's even sadder is that soap opera she was relying on dates back to 1999-2000. Plus, soap operas are just that, soap operas. Everything is fake.

With the exception of a different hairstyle, hair color and contact lenses and some make-up, it's still the same face, same quiet nature, same person, same name, same voice, etc.

Exactly. In addition, there is no way someone can change a personality overnight, go from shy and awkward to outgoing and with lots of friends the next day like on Hollywood movies, ficitious scenes.
