Do people confuse you for something you’re not because of your looks?

Unfortunately, yes, a lot of times for many different things. I will list them out:

1.) I wear glasses when I'm reading (and only when I'm reading) but take them off when I am not. People will call me a nerd, ugly, stupid, e. t. c. but then call me "so pretty" when I don't have them on.

2.) I am a Korean person but people assume I'm Chinese because they're rude. I'll literally be just sitting there and people will come up to me and make the most rudest comments about how I am because I'm apparently Chinese. When they find out I'm Korean, the same people will suddenly call me so pretty and try to be friends with me.

On the flip side though, I have been snubbed as an assumed mistress/homewrecker/gold digger. None of the above are true. We were both single when we met, married, and started a family together over 20 years ago and he was not wealthy.

Yeah, tall, dark & gruesome doesn't seem to be attractive. I'm kinda like Herman Munster. I might be a bit scary looking but I'm as kind and gentle as a lamb. Sadly, people jump to conclusions on face value, first.
