Why do women stop being attractive after 40?

Don't get mad. I'm trying to understand the psychology behind it. This number is not set in stone. Some women look kind of gross by 30. Some are able to put it off till 50. But in general women stop being attractive by about 40. Why is this? They're still the same person. They still wear makeup. They still exercise. Why does it end at this age?

It's not psychology; it's biology. The physical things that make a woman sexually attractive are the markers of youth, health, and fertility. The evolutionary reasons are obvious, but if you need them stated outright: the younger the woman, the longer her fertility window; the higher that fertility, the more children she can have; the healthier the woman, the more likely her children will survive; and the more children you have, the better the odds of your genes continuing on. Geriatric pregnancy starts at 35, and menopause kicks in (typically) between 45-51, so it makes no evolutionary sense for your brain to see women appearing to be that age as sexually attractive.

Women's sex appeal is VERY front-loaded, starting well before a girl's going to have any deep understanding of what sex is, even in a society that isn't as sexually repressed as ours is. This is the root of a great deal of modern misandry among middle-aged and older women; the fawning, almost worshipful treatment they get in their reproductive prime fades- usually gradually, sometimes quickly- and they come to see society as having double-crossed them (which it hasn't) and as valuing women primarily for their looks (which it does). The resentment that follows is natural, since, never having to have built themselves up, they lack the mental fortitude to do so in adulthood. You'll probably get a fair few comments from them to that effect on this very question.

It's important to remember that this is a matter of physique; every other reason there is to be attracted to a woman might well still apply to her- and in any case, has little to do with her value as a person.

They don't, at least not all women. My wife is 45 and is still boner-material.

At our son's wedding last month one of his anabriated groomsmen hit on my wife and my son almost whipped his ass... lol. (I didn't hear about it until the next day)

People just stop looking attractive in old age. It happens more rapidly for men tho lots of y'all are greying/balding/losing muscles/gaining weight in your 30s. Some unfortunate men I've heard stories of greying 18😵 thankfully women stay better looking for a bit longer. I don't know if it's nature or because women take more care of themselves compared to men
