I’m always adding to the collection, but I have the majority of my staples nailed down by now. I usually save money all year to spend big on myself on Black Friday Weekend, so it’s a lot of shopping between myself and all of my family, but shopping for myself is no chore to me. Two years ago I bought jeans in all the washes/colors I wanted. This past year I focused on getting a variety of chinos. I pick up sneakers and shoes as I find them, and they tend to last since I keep a large rotation. Then something more “everyday” that goes with a lot of things, like white Air Forces Ones I can replace once a year when they start to crease and lose shape. (They stay white though, haha. Shout out Mr. Clean Magic Eraser🙌)
I wear kind of classic, non-trendy stuff, so it’s just a matter of not getting fat, lmao, the clothes are good for a while. I usually just replace white/light things if they get stains on them. Otherwise, I just pick up things I like, or think of as holes in my wardrobe.
I also have a really good thrift store near me, and while I don’t really buy a lot of clothes there (tough to find stuff that isn’t worn out, or isn’t ugly, or fits me properly (long arms and legs, so stuff can be too short in the sleeves/inseams), I DO find some good coats or sportcoats sometimes. It’s tough in its own right, I wear slim fit sportcoats, and I need 36-inch sleeves. But I’ve gotten lucky a few times👍 $10 at the dry cleaner and they’re good as new. So I may randomly pick something up there too.
My one thing I need to chill out on is graphic t-shirts, haha. Those are dicey anyway, in terms of looking good, but I will say I believe I have excellent taste in them and can tell the difference between a good one and one that looks like it’s from a mall kiosk. And I HAVE TO get “premium fit”, they fit me so well. I’d actually like to find some plain unprinted ones in a variety of colors too.
But I go to the gym a lot, and that’s somewhere I don’t mind wearing them. They’re usually good conversation starters too, because they’re funny, but not over-the-top, make-me-look-corny-funny, but more like deep-cut references to TV shows or movies, or retro brands, or CAREFULLY cultivated music t-shirts, serious and ironic.
You have to be SO careful with all of it, you’re walking a treacherous fashion tightrope of cool and lame, haha. Like I love The Goonies from when I was growing up…but you can’t just wear a Goonies t-shirt, and you DEFINITELY can’t get the super-mainstream Sloth “Heyyyyy yooooouuuuuuu guuuuuuyyyyyysssss!!!” one. That’s lame, or at best, basic. Instead, I have a t-shirt with a picture of the abandoned restaurant they all find the entrance to the underground tunnels under. It’s got a faint skull you can see in the shingling, and then it just says “The Lighthouse Lounge/Astoria, OR”…. doesn't say Goonies anywhere on it, just suggests it, with a business name they don’t even really emphasize, I think they say it once or you just see the sign…. its kind of like “only TRUE fans know.” But it’s still a good looking shirt, so it’s cool either way. But when someone notices, I know I’m talking to a real one, haha.
Or I just have band t-shirts, one of which is just an illustration of Rick Astley, inexplicably on a bicycle…. just so random, I had to have it😂
Anyway, going off on a tangent, lmao. But yeah, I have to remind myself that I have like 20+ of these t-shirts and that’s plenty😝
So…. yeah, not TOO often, I more have one big annual splurge when everything is cheapest, and then every few months or so, usually with a change of season, I’ll look for an item or two that I want or need to replace. But I DO NOT pay full price, unless it’s something that you can’t really find discounted. Otherwise…. big clearance rack guy, and I’m always looking when I pass them. Usually it’s unproductive, but I know gems when I find them.
Whenever I need them. The problem is finding stuff that doesn't all apart within a few months, and that is "true to size". The other problem is finding undershirts (T-shirt type) that are really UNDERshirts and not just a rebagged (outer) T-shirt. An undershirt will have 4.5-5.5 ounces fabric. The ones I got from Amazon- for example- are at least 6.5-7.5 ounce fabric, certainly not UNDERwear stock, plus it was certainly not true-to- size due to the fact that it was so short and stumpy.
Once a year. I'm a minimalist so I buy good quality at JCPenney and never buy clothes unless I lost or gain wait. I take good care of my clothes I don't used the dryer I do it the old school ways. My grandmother advice me not to dry my clothes or use fabric softener it damage the fabric.
When I need that item of clothing. For example, if I need a new dress for a wedding, or a new sweater for winter cause I don’t like an older one.

Big spends like suits, slacks, and sport coats or blazers are once every five to ten years. Shirts and ties, every other year.
If we're talking casual t-shirts, shorts, jeans and stuff like that, maybe every one to two years.
i don't buy clothes anymore. i wear what i have been wearing for 35 years! i have clothes i've never worn. i give clothes away to charity. i hate doing laundry and they don't make big closets for men
Every couple months I'll get something on sale that I like. I have way to many clothes but it's hard not buying something on sale that I like lol
Seldom. I have boots from the last century that still work and even some other clothes. I don't have any fashion interest and find it quite tiresome and wasteful in the first place so rely on Christmas and the odd occasion for new gear.
Tbh once or twice per month when i see something and i like it and ofc it fits me then i will buy it and at home i see again why i should stop doing this
Only when I'm forced to.🤣 I'm probably lucky in the sense that i have all women in my family. So they're always buying me new clothes for my birthday's and Christmas. Probably they get tired of seeing what I wear.🤣
Once a week, i buy few clothes in a week. Mostly 2 or 3.
Usually once a year unless I need something or see a good deal
Not very often when I do clothes shop I get most of my tee-shirts from dollar general and get other stuff from like goodwill and such.
Rare, once in a few years but Annual undies.
When I need it, I shop sometimes every two months, sometimes annually, and I don't need it anymore.
🤔 The last thing I bought was socks using Amazon the last week. Nex time would be 🤔🤔🤔
Not too often. Just whenever I realize I need new clothes. Maybe every couple months I’ll pick something up
You never outgrew yours since age 9, anyways, did you?
@SleepingHazard that’s not terribly far off lmao
