Thinking of doing so, it doesn't look too complicated and it will grow back at some point
Anonymous(30-35)1 yYes, tons of times! It really depends on your hair texture (mine is curly/wavy and therefore hides a lot of mistakes), the kind of haircut you're going for and what methods you're going to be using, and whether or not you're okay with the fact that it will likely not be perfect.
1. I did the whole grabbing all of my hair into a ponytail at my forehead and trimming off maybe 2" (often called the unicorn cut), then pulling it all in front of my shoulders afterward and trimming the ends, and holding both sides together under my chin like a "beard" ponytail to ensure they're even for years, then went in for a haircut at one point and the stylist said I did a pretty good job and that there were only a few small spots that needed evening out. The first method (unicorn) results in face framing layers (keep in mind that the shorter you cut the ponytail, the shorter the layers will be - it's best to just do a little at a time). The second method just cuts the ends in a more rounded U-shape in the back, and I like to make sure my very ends are getting trimmed enough and staying healthy. I used to have a friend bring it all behind my shoulders and cut it straight across, but that leaves the front a bit longer, which I don't like, and I prefer a more rounded look in the back over square.
2. Point cutting is a good trick to have up your sleeve - if you want more natural looking ends or to make a piece look less choppy, point your scissors upwards into the ends and cut straight upwards into them - YouTube has many demonstrations of this. IME, more feathered ends show less mistakes than very blunt as well.
3. There are tons of tutorials all over YouTube for all kinds of different haircuts and hair types.
4. Keep in mind that the straighter your hair is, the more obvious any mistakes will be (unless you decide to curl it every day). Also, just cut a little at a time. You can always cut more, but once it's cut, you can't put it back on!
5. Be sure to use actual hair scissors, not kitchen or paper scissors! The sharper the better. Kitchen/paper scissors are not sharp enough (and in my opinion, are too big and bulky to be easy to use, especially if you want to point cut or anything like that) and will cause split ends.
6. I also personally like to cut mine dry, partially because my hair is curly/wavy and will shrink to some extent when dry, so it's easy to cut off more than I'm expecting when it's wet, and also because I feel like I get a better idea of the finished product when it's dry. I know I can't do as technical of a cut as a stylist, so I'm more concerned with it looking right once it's dry and styled. I usually like to style my hair as usual and touch it up afterward as well.

I absolutely suck at that stuff though! I see so many people do their own hair and it comes out perfect.!

1 yYes, I cut my own hair for about a year when I was experimenting with different length mowhawk / fohawk / buzzcuts. I also did some stripes on the sides for a few months.
There is a learning curve (even more with scissors) and it takes a lot longer than having someone else do it for you. But if you're okay with it maybe turning out a lot worse and shorter than you planned, then it can be fun and you can even learn some cuts you really like (with practice).

a couple years* typo
797 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. I do it, saves me money so yeah. My hair is kinda scruffy in style on purpose anyway so one can't tell the difference, and like you said it grows back leaving any mistake undone really.
Also my hair just kinda stays the same length besides the fringes I cut so it's really not that hard.00 Reply

Cutting your own hair can be a fun experiment, but it's often trickier than it seems! If you're feeling adventurous, start with small trims to avoid any major mishaps. Remember, hair does grow back, but if you're not confident, a professional might be a safer bet for more complex styles. Good luck, and enjoy the process! ✂️💇♀️

As for me I breakout the hair clippers every two weeks & I give myself a buzz cut.
It’s easy for me 1,2,3 & I’m done & over the years I have saved so much.00 Reply 941 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. I have been cutting my own hair for nearly 30 years. Every 2 or sometimes 3 weeks I get out the mirror and the clippers and get 'er done. Far more efficient than paying someone else to do it and spending several hours a month on the process.
10 ReplyI have done because it's so expensive to get it here (they equalised the price of haircuts to be in line with how much women pay for their haircuts as a myth) but as a guy it's get some electric clippers and use the attachments to keep the sides and back at a reasonable level.

10 ReplyYes, I’ve dyed and cut it multiple times myself. I can’t always say it turns out the best, but it’s fun, and it has my own personal twist. Plus, it’s just hair it’ll always grow back.
