



But they didn't. Pretty much every old culture had their version of shampoo. Wood Ash, various herbs, vinegar, oils, oats etc have all been used for thousands of years. Modern shampoo only dates back to 1930. If you shop around you can still get stuff like nettle and oat or seaweed and flax.
I didn't not know that, but it actually does not surprise me!
Hindus, Sheiks, Muslims, and Jains are all very diligent about maintaining clean hair, beards and that sort of thing. It makes sense in a religious context.
