I think to a extent. Beauty/handsomeness can be subjective but there is things more universal then others. You have the extreme ends of attractive and unattractive.
People fight on this website all the time over what they find attractive and what they don’t. Like sheesh everyone is different.00 Reply

It is definitely a matter of perception, to a point. Especially when you get personality in the mix. There are certainly some objectively pretty girls who almost anyone will agree is pretty. But I have experienced prettiness change drastically once I got a sense of a girl's personality.
The girl who is the person who, to me... is the most attractive girl ever... is a girl I knew over a decade ago, and never dated. She is so beautiful to me, but she is an extremely average looking girl. In fact, you could even say she was plain. She wasn't going to turn heads walking into a room. She was... very regular looking. She wouldn't turn my head just to look at. I didn't think she was anything special when I first met her. But she's just a fun, hilarious, kind, amazing person. She's a lot of fun.
I wish I could show you a picture of this girl, from years ago, who still is the most beautiful girl I've known, So you could say:
"Really? her?"
Yep. her.10 Reply Only to a very limited extent.
We all know what makes someone good looking, and we don't even need to be attracted to them, for us to do it.
For example, I'm a guy, but I can still recognize when another guy is good looking - doesn't make me gay. Likewise, I can tell when a child is good looking - doesn't make me a paedophile. It's no coincidence that all those disney starlets, like Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez, grew up to be beautiful women - they were chosen for those roles because they were pretty kids.
However, while some traits are almost universally seen as being (un) attractive, the extent to which we (dis) like them varies from person to person. For example, most people would say that a small, slightly upturned nose, with a slight point, is most attractive in women - but for me, it's almost a fetish! Other people might have "a thing" for a particular eye colour or shape.00 Reply- 24 d
Beauty is subjective, but only to an extent. The majority of people do not find this type of girl attractive:
While the majority of people find this type of girl very attractive.
People need to accept that there are specific physical traits that the majority find attractive, and rather than feel attacked or bitter by it, maybe work towards having a better body and cleaning up their appearance.

I think it's obvious that attractiveness is a matter of perception, but I don't think that's the question you really want to ask. I think you intend to ask whether or not attraction is subjective or objective.
While it is true that there is subjectivity involved in attraction, it's also true that it isn't completely subjective.
Some people will be more widely viewed as attractive than others.
But even someone who is viewed as unattractive by most might be considered attractive by some.
00 Reply 1.2K opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. The short answer is yes with a but.
The but being that the perception is probably a result of evolution. Historically in nature, young women of robust health who were visually able bodied in that they weren’t too over or under weight, strong enough to survive long enough to raise children and had appealing symmetrical features would be perceived to be the most beautiful. Most beautiful is tantamount to most sexually desirable in this sense.
So beauty IS a perception in a sense as beauty probably doesn’t exist in the universe outside of conscious subjectivity.
00 ReplyMostly yeah, but a lot of people will agree that attractive is attractive, regardless. For example, Adriana Lima in her prime, I think most people will agree that she is attractive; however, someone like Jordan Barrett, even though he's a good-looking guy, if he weren't, he wouldn't be a model, but a lot of people will still find him unattractive.
In short, yes, however, there is people who are universally attractive to most people and some people like specific models who are attractive to some people and unattractive to a lot of people

Sometimes.. Like really pretty women everyone agrees with you is pretty like Salma Hayek and Charlize Theron those are like the natural beauties.. but there are also people who grow on you for example they look kind of meh in the beginning but after getting to know them and really liking their personally they became way more pretty and they have a real attractiveness about them.

To some extent though scientists seem to have found that certain qualities seem to be true in people generally considered attractive. As far back as the Athenians it's been speculated that a golden mean exists in anything considered attractive and it involves a ratio of mass between the upper 1/3 ro the lower 2/3. More recently, symettery has been thought to be intrinsic to beauty. Photo is great example of beauty whomever it may be.
00 Reply - 24 d
Nope. It's math! The Golden Ratio transcends culture, race, color, fashion, era, etc. it's imutable.

It must be. I've seen my man's exs and they are quite pretty, one is an ex model. He's choosen to be with me and I remember some of the women he was dating before we started dating, he choose me over them. One is an actual model, the other a runner up in a beauty contest, another an ex college cheerleader, one of them had a balcony so large you could perform Shakespeare on it. Yet he choose average me.

Yes. There are loads of people that say Mona Lisa is beautiful. I can't see how.
There's women that I don't think are pretty at all but other rave about their looks. There are women I think are drop dead gorgeous but others don't think so.00 Reply - 25 d
Absolutely. Perception of attractiveness is very subjective and different for everyone. That works out well for our species. Something for everyone.
00 Reply On the whole it is but there are some basic traits that will be universally pleasing to the eyes of most people like symmetry and balance as well as poise and stature.
00 Reply1.2K opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. Yes, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder so it is subjective. I am referring to both physical and personality wise.
00 Reply- 24 d
of course it is. "pretty" is a purely visual concept. so without the "perception" (meaning sight of) a person, you can't find someone pretty.

Everyone has what are called iks, but we also have the opposite of iks. There is a standard for beauty, but everyone's iks and anti iks work in tandem to drive what we find extra attractive
00 Reply Yes, type "Who do you think is prettier, hotter or more attractive - Jessica Alba or Scarlett Johansson?" in the search box above. You'll see the answers.

Mostly no. I mean it is to a small degree. But in general society has clear rules about what is attractive and what is not. If this were not true we would not have supermodels that society holds up as ideals of what is beautiful.
00 Reply Well, yes and no. Yes it is perception. But there is a surprisingly high correlation between different people's perception of beauty.
00 Reply908 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. Prettiness is factually subjective. It doesn't matter if someone believes a fact or not it is still a fact lol.
