Are you turned off by hair texture?

Question

My close friend and I joke and play with each other's hair. He has thick, silky, straight hair. I have wild, coily, curly hair.

He always says he loves when I wear my hair down. I just laugh.. my hair doesn’t ‘go down... it expands into full glory like it’s claiming space.

Anyway... I noticed someone recently commented here saying they wouldn't date someone with afro textured hair. So now I'm curious about how many people are actually turned off by different hair textures.

No, not at all. I'd much rather some afro variation than a wig or weave. I have no problem with kinky "black" hair at all. I guess some people are going to be uncomfortable by something they aren't used to, but I've been around black people my whole life, so it's absolutely nothing new to me.

These three girls look natural and feminine, and in my opinion, that's what we need a whole lot more of - it's in way too short of supply these days. I'm not a fan of fake anything on anyone.

I also really like this look. I guess these are called Nubian twists.

Or this. It's like the hair is separated into pieces like you were going to make dreads or braids, but only the very tip of each piece is twisted (I've also seen it where 2-3 inches at the end is twisted, but the rest left loose like this). No idea what that's called, but it's a nice natural look.

I have dated girls with all types of hair, that being said I think really short hair is not good for a long-term relationship, if she had it short once or twice. Whatever, but in the end I like long flowing hair, could be afro hair could be straight whatever.

That "afro textured hair" kept generations of people safe from the blistering sun all across Africa. Folks with thin hair dwelling in the chilly mountains didn't need that sort of hair. God gives us what we need and it's all beautiful.

Also... hair that "claims space" is warrior hair. (Did you know? Fun fact: Many ancient tribes across several cultures would have masks and helmets with "hair" (or big branches to look like hair) sticking out so that they looked bigger and fiercer than they actually were.)

Anyone ever says anything about your Warrior Princess hair you just stand tall and don't mind them at all. God doesn't make mistakes and we're all beautiful in His eyes.

I don't care about hair texture, I don't get why would someone be turned off by it. In my mother work there's a mixed guys who have slight curves in his hair and he's letting it getting long, everyone mock him and bully him into cutting it, I have no idea why they're doing that even my mother was confused when she told me this

I definitely don't wanna get with some nappy headed bi-... JK.. Of course not as long as they're not to the extremes like super bone straight and and coiled so tight they look like little hair balls.. My favorite textures are wavy to your type of curls..

No it doesn't bother me plus I can't really complain about hair texture when if I let my hair grow out it turns in a white afro basically, extremely wild, coily, curly hair.

If your familiar with the rapper little dicky that's what I look like with long hair and facial hair.

I've got issues with many textures and sensory processing issues, but never had an issue with hair textures. I love running my fingers through and playing with someone's hair, and enjoy when they play with mine too. No issues with texture unless they haven't washed their hair in months and it's greasier than a macdonald's burger lol

Nope, let the thicc fro flow!. As a person that has thicc hair and has to use a4 shampoo to make it manageable. texture, & volume isn't a problem, it's when it tangles while trying to work with thick curly hair that is the problem. If i can't work with it, it get frustrated.

Not turned off at all. That look on the three women in that photo is extremely sexy, cute, sophisticated. Especially the one in the middle. It's all about getting the hairstyle matched up to the face shape. Afro textured hair can also look very sophisticated and sexy in a close cropped style that reveals head shape. Again, it's about the face shape and the style being right together. For me anyway.

I am more turned on by silky hair texture but as most girls dye their hair, there isn't much of that going around. Dyed hair is much inferior in silkiness to natural hair.
