How does this shirt and tie combination look?

Mrs. Ranger and I had a disagreement about the shirt and tie combo I'd originally picked out for church this morning.

Here's the first one I picked out (and all of these were with a charcoal/dark gray suit)...

"It makes you look like you're a colorblind bachelor!" Like SHE knows...

She then pulled out this tie...

In her defense, I have never worn this tie with this shirt and it actually doesn't look too bad.

This is what I went with...

She doesn't like this one either 🙄

And just to give you an idea of where exactly her judgment falls with this, here's an alternative she suggested...

I haven't worn this tie in many years.

So I'm putting it to a vote! Who's right here? Me or Mrs. Ranger?

The first one has the best colour combination, but the patterns are clashing too much. The patterns are creating too much disturbance.

The second one also has a good colour combination but... it's so... "Meh". It's making you look like a typical corporate slave. Not that it's a bad thing, but it's not a good thing either as we're here make you stand out and be the best as that's why we make efforts you know? Again, the patterns, while not disruptive of each other, aren't complementary either.

The third one is the best combination and I'm glad you went with it. The pattern on the tie is so subtle that it's not competing with the pattern of your shirt. It's in a league of its own and trying not to steal the show that your shirt is absolutely running.

The fourth one is suggested by Mrs. Ranger so that all the women would say "eww" and never dare looking at you ever again so that she can keep you tied in the relationship (pun intended). That tie looks good only with plain shirts.

I wish I had the same shirt you're wearing. (And also a wife).

Ties are corporate choke-cords. They all make you look like a total twat.
And the only reason to go to a church is to burn it down.

If a guy wears a tie with a dress shirt, I think it best the tie stand out (otherwise why bother even wearing one).

In the first photo, the tie seems to blend in with the shirt print. Doesn't seem to work.

In the second photo, the dot pattern makes the tie stand out. It works.

The third photo I think is the right idea. Even though the tie's pattern is subdued, it doesn't clash with the shirt's grid pattern.

The fourth tie pattern looks like the inside of a hangover, or whoever made the choice must have eaten a couple of "special" gummis.

The first two are "ok". The very first is the best.
