Also, how do stay focused?
I'm getting ready to work from home in a few weeks and I'm kind of not sure if I prepared for it.

Trending & News There are many advantages and also some minor disadvantages when you work from home.
By all means, set up a decent workspace, preferably in a separate room. A decent size desk, a comfortable chair, a PC and good internet connection are on your priority list. You don't say if you live by yourself or have a partner and kids. If you do have kids, you need your private space, otherwise you'll get constant interruptions.
I find I work best during the morning and/or in the afternoon. Take a break at least every 2 hours, sooner if you feel you need to. It's important to set up a work schedule and stick to it, so you can get the work done on time. Don't delay tedious tasks for last, do them as soon as you can, so they're out of the way.
You don't say if you will work on a self-employed basis or work from home for a company. In the second case, they will provide your work schedule and back you up.
In the first case, you are pretty much on your own. You will need to set some time apart to send out your invoices and follow up on payments. You have a lot of advantages there: you can take time for yourself, you are your own boss and don't have to put up with BS from anybody. The downside? There will be weeks where you have loads of work, even during the weekend if you work on a tight schedule as I do. It's extremely important to call it a day when work is over, close the door to your room as if it were an office and go back to your private space (living room). Holidays and vacations are pretty much up to you. I can't take a whole month off, not even two weeks in a row. That's part of the job. You may have to change holiday plans last minute and it's hard on your family if you have to.
Good luck. Anything else, send me a DM.
Thanks. I appreciate the advice. I live with a roommate and she works a lot of the time so I'll be fine there. I'm also working with a company and my work hours are Monday through Friday 7:30am to 4pm.
Yes, (thank you covid) I work from home a lot these days. It means I don't have to haul my ass into Manhattan every day or put up with flying in/out of LaGuardia and JFK.
I typically wear jeans and a button up shirt. A button up shirt because I'm on scheduled and unscheduled calls constantly and a lot of people like to do Teams / Zoom calls. Jeans because I'm always seated at a desk in my home office so the bottom half doesn't matter. Jeans are cheap and comfy.
If I'm in Manhattan, I'm generally in a suit and tie, blazer or sports coat and tie with dress pants or dark jeans and my cowboy boots, or no tie if that's the dress code where I'm gonna be hanging out on any given day.
And I usually have something in my backpack that'll allow me to go casual quickly and easily if clients want to go out for drinks or dinner in the city.
If I'm flying to a manufacturing client and I'm gonna be running around a production floor all day, climbing pants and no tie or loose clothing (safety) and a Henley shirt.
I did, from 2021-2022.
- I'd wear my pjs
- My WAH job kept me pretty busy so I had no problem staying focused.
Here's a tip. If you think you'll be distracted, set up your "home office" in a room you'll know you won't be distracted (i. e. your living room, dining room, etc).
Otherwise, working from home is pretty great. :)
Thanks. I'll do just that!
I just wear whatever I feel like, honestly. We don't have a dress code for that, except a twice monthly meeting in person I have to attend.
Working from home is quite the adventure! I usually opt for a blend of comfort and style, like a nice top with comfy bottoms. It helps set the right mindset. To stay focused, I create a dedicated workspace and set clear goals for each day. Music and some fun breaks keep energy levels up too! 🎧✨

I wish I could, but at the same time not no I do work for real estate management companies
And real estate offices I do you work on their homes and their commercial buildings before they rent or they sell them. I like when I stay busy tho. i also like doing things with my house to. But inordinate to do that i need cash flow
I'm allowed two remote work days per month. When I do, I'll wear a company t-shirt and, depending on the season and weather, either jeans or shorts. If there's an important meeting though that I need to join over video, I'll put on a polo or button-up shirt.
I did, starting with the pandemic that forced us to leave the office. I'm retired now.
I was actually more productive at home, not having to spend hours each day traveling to and from the office.
It's important that you set up a dedicated work area, away from most distractions, and set daily goals for yourself.
The fun part is that you can wear whatever is most comfortable. The only exception is when you have a video meeting. 🙄
I don't work anymore, but it's probably better if you get dressed for work, even if you're at home. It's a good reminder that you are at home to work and not get distracted.
That's true. Thanks.
I know it sounds enticing and some really enjoy that pleasure, however there are many who were happy as hell after covid to get back into the workplace just to have a bit more to their life.
True. Having the structure and being in an office with work friends can add some social parts to the work week
It takes 2-3 mos to figure out what works but once your there it's life changing. Good luck!!
Thanks!
I kinda do, I have a room upstairs in the club where I work and I hardly ever wear any clothes. When I start dancing 💃 I have a little outfit on me but it comes off after I dance.
I am teaching an online course this semester. It is going good so far but I am skeptical about how much th3 students actually learn.
Fortunately not. I think if I worked from home I would never accomplish anything.
I often work from home, wearing blue jeans and a T-shirt.
I have to put the video games up if I am going to work at home…. lol
Why, do you? @Simslover92
It's company policy
@Simslover92 oh. Uh
Do you like, that policy? Or do you miss relating to a movie like OfficeSpace or a situation show like The Office : ?
It's fine. We don't have many people in the office anyways. Most work from home.
@Simslover92 do you want it to last / be permanent? There's mixed opinions worldwide about the phenomena ; will it last + or will life go back completely to before Covid -
Eventually...
It really doesn't matter to me one way or the other.
@Simslover92 good to know - I guess you must be rolling in money savings because you just get out of bed and you're like, at work? Wow - what a novelty. Sounds like the coronavirus year never ends (2020). This isn't meant to be negative.
What will you do
I will work from home. I kind of have to.
Customer service
Well, as a student, sometimes! XD
Not yet, but I'd really like that.
Luckily I don't need to work at all
