Do any guys wear ties. ?

There is something about ties and suit jackets on my guy and guys in general. Very seldom though, do guys wear ties. They say they are uncomfortable. I get that, but they sure do look good. (Melt). Does anybody else like ties on guys other than me?

Yeah I guess I'm an anachronism but, I often wear a suit and tie, or a blazer and dress pants with a tie, or a sport coat and jeans with a tie, in an office environment at clients etc., when I'm travelling, and even when I go out with friends on a Friday night.

Betcha can't guess the reasons though. I went from being a kid to a military university to the military. I didn't even own a suit until I got out of the Army at 35. Up til that point I was either in jeans and sneakers or a uniform. So when I transitioned from military life to Fortune 100 Finance, Private Equity, and my current life consulting for Investment Banks and Private Equity, a suit and tie, nice shoes, etc. was a real novelty for this guy. I was wearing adult clothes for the first time. I was a big boy now.

I was overwhelmed and clueless at first. A proverbial fish out of water. But I got into learning how to "dress for success" and I had fun with it. Then the whole "office casual" thing started but I held onto the jacket and tie thing. I became an outlier. Different. One of the few guys holding onto a slightly more formal dress code.

And yeah, a lot of women notice the effort. Mostly it's a huge positive. A well fitted jacket with shoulder pads and a taper at the waist do a huge favor to guys with a fit, muscular physique. Certainly it does more for a guy than a hoody or a sloppy t-shirt. Women look. And they treat me differently. But there can be a downside. There was this one woman I worked with who seemed absolutely pissed off by the fact that I'd keep the jacket and tie on even at an office happy hour night out. She'd comment to the other women about it. LOL, get pissed all you want. I am what I am.

And a well dressed guy who gets attention from women can also get jealous or insecure reactions from other guys. That happens once in a while. Not my problem that other guys don't make any effort and your wife or girlfriend is trying to chat me up and ignoring you.

Anyway, I just do it because l like feeling like I'm dressed like an adult. It's still a novelty for me.

I do where the circumstances require it, like a formal event. If a guy says it is uncomfortable, it is likely he is wearing a shirt where the neck size is too small for him. I have worked in jobs where a shirt and tie were required and never had issues with discomfort.

I used to wear a suit & tie to work everyday. It was a requirement at my job. I got used to it, but it's not something that I would consider comfortable.

Fortunately, I no longer work at that job, so now I only wear a suit & tie for formal occasions, which I generally avoid.

I used to wear them while rounding in the hospital as a med student, but that quickly changed when I realized how easily they transfer pathogens from one patient to another when they fall down onto the patient's body. Now, I just use them when appropriate for ceremonial situations.

Ties are uncomfortable, and they're hard to tie right, and when I'm wearing one, I always feel like I should be asking people if they've thought about their life insurance situation.

I always feel like a d-bag when I'm wearing a necktie. So I only wear one when I absolutely have to.

I wore a tie in grammar school and high school, they were required back then.

I rarely wore a tie at work, maybe when we were meeting with customers, and now I only wear a tie at formal events, like a wedding.

I like them in formal meetings. It can be sexy on the right guy.

My husband tells me they are very uncomfortable to wear when it's hot. He would loosen the tie or remove it alltogether.

A nice suit with a tie is pretty much the only way for a guy to dress up, apart from any really formal black tie or white tie events. It's a shame that general custom seems to be lost.

Yes, many guys I know wear ties, either as execs or to formal events. I think it's hot.

Why does anyone wear anything? Ties aren't uncomfortable, it's shirts that are too small.
