I don't want to repeat my whole answer from yesterday so assuming you're American, it seems like it won't catch on here. It's more a European thing.

Swim briefs are absolutely still in fashion, just depends on where you are and how you style them 😄

Lots of guys like them because they’re comfy, great for tanning, and way better for actual swimming than baggy trunks. In Europe and at lap pools or beaches with a sporty vibe, they’re super normal. Confidence and good fit matter more than trends here.

They definitely feel the best to swim in, but I hate how I look in them. I just don't have the right kind of build down there, the front is completely flat. Your parts fill out the pouch in front so it looks right but it's just empty fabric for me. So I either only wear them in private or I wear a fake cup underneath.

I avoid wearing them myself as I don't have very much to show off, I do have a pair of "budgie smugglers" but only wear them at home,,,
