Are these appropriate swim shorts for a public beach?

The last time I went to the beach it was a nude beach, but we're traveling with another family to their timeshare this fall, and the beach there is definitely not a nude beach. I'm not a fan of boardshorts, and these look comfortable.

Sure they're fine. You probably have to be quite confident and have a decent body to wear them, as they are quite small, but they're a nice middle ground between the longer board shorts and something small and European which many people would not want to see anyway.
Go for it.
(it is a bit funny they designed with a faux belt though.)

They've also got a faux fly, but 5 functioning pockets that match where pockets would be on denim, so I think the belt is just to complete the denim look.
