How can I stop my new work shoes from squeaking so much?

Got some new shoes for work but they're so squeaky its driving me mad. What are your tips for softening up shoes

I'm not an expert on such matters but I think you just need to break them in, softening the leather, perhaps rubbing in some mink oil or whatever similar product you may have in New Zealand may help!

New shoes can be so annoying when they squeak 😅
First, check where the squeak comes from: usually the insole or the sole.

Try sprinkling a tiny bit of baby powder or cornstarch under the insole to reduce friction.
Rub a little petroleum jelly or conditioner on stiff leather areas.
If the sole is super smooth, lightly scuff it on a rough surface for grip and less noise.

I agree with a lot here where’s the squeak coming from that will make a huge difference for what you can do about it the bottoms of my shoes squeak quite a bit but n clean floors and they are months old they are hokas not cheap like the one person said I think it just depends on the kind of rubber they use on the bottom I’m guessing the softer more cushiony rubber probably is more likely to do this…. Maybe like the one person said scuff the bottoms a little
