I’m team “avoid obvious tan lines,” honestly 😅
If I’m at the beach or pool, I usually wear strapless or minimal-strap tops and adjust them a bit so lines stay soft and not super defined. I use sunscreen religiously too, so any lines I get are more natural and subtle, not those super sharp bikini outlines.

They are kind of hard to avoid when you’re wearing a bikini. That said, I kinda like them so I don’t do anything to prevent them
