Why do girls care so much about shoes?

This is somehting that always baffled me, they are just things thta cover your feet. shoes serve a purpose to protect someones feet, nothing else. I never understood why some girls have tons of pairs of shoes. It is unecassary. I know there are occasions, for dress shoes, but other than that they are really just things to protect your feet. what do they have to do with fashion. I have only one pair of shoes, and that is all I need. Why would anyone need to spend thousands of dollars on something that covers their feet, and no one ever looks at.

TBH, when you start wearing dress shoes for work, you should have a rotation.

You can wear one pair of shoes till they die, then replace, repeat.

But if you buy lets say 5 pairs of shoes and wear them once a week, they won't just last 5 times as long (which would be the same amount of money as buying 1, then another, then another) they'll last MORE then that because they have a chance to properly dry and recover between wearing. Five pairs of shoes might last 10 times as long as one pair, saving you money in the long run. And then obviously you can have a little more variety instead of just trying to have one bland pair that goes with 'everything'.

For women, shoes are an accessory. One reason they buy so many is that most women's shoes are made really badly and fall apart fast.

The thing with girls is they view shoes as an accessory, when in reality shoes are a necessity. I look at shoes, like warm, clothes or a home, it is somethign you need for protection, not something that is used for fun, or style.

My shoe breakdown is thus:

"Nice shoes"-- heels

"Seasonal shoes"-- boots (including rain boots and snow boots), sandals

"Regular shoes"-- sneakers and flats

Then you have the color categories:

Black (goes with almost everything), Brown (the only thing black doesn't go with), Neutrals (navy and grey), Metallics (gold and silver), Colors (red, blue, purple, green, etc).

I have a black of everything (heels, flats, sneakers, etc), a brown of everything, a grey of everything, a few metallics, and a few colors (I tend to wear red and blue a lot so I have a few pairs of red and blue shoes).

because my darling shoes are the foundation to a great outfit. its like when you have a great looking car but no engine. then the car is just worthless. why? because the engine is the foundation of a car.

plus you can wear a simple outfit like some jeans and a t shirt but put on some exclusive shoes and it will make your outfit go from a 3 to at least a 6 or 7.

heels also make a girl have more sex appeal and it makes your legs look great. I love shoes because they are not just shoes its art...but on your feet.

I would not call it art. I don't think it makes an outfit, people do not even look at shoes. Guys do not. Shoes are like socks, they are not meant for fashion, and do not change an outfit. I never look at a girls feet.

well to a lot of guys feet matter. and girls usually dress not to impress other men but to impress other girls..and if you ever seen high fashion shoes you would call it art because they are just that beautiful. shoes are not like socks to me. why? because socks can't be seen. shoes can. if people put a lot of effort into there shirts then why not put effort into your shoes.

I don't know why you wold wear effort into something that is a necessaity. The money that goes to shoes could go to a lot of other things that are important. I never understood why girls dress to impress each other. It's such a waste of money trying to find fancy shoes they are not needed. People really do not look at feet. I any ver look at a girls feet. Anyone who does get concered abotu what someone is wearing on theri feet is over materialistic, and does not know what is really important.

You don't look, most women and a fair number of men do. You say its 'a waste of money' but since it genuinely has an impact on how you are perceived, unless you think that status and attractiveness are _also_ meaningless, you're just pushing your view. If you really live as a monk and give everything to charity, good for you, but I'm not sure overspending on _shoes_ is the biggest flaw in modern consumerist society.

But it is something that is so meaningless. If someone really judges someone by their shoes than they are insane. People put too much stock in things that do not matter is what I am saying. Shoes do not make a person who they are what makes them who they ar eis on the inside. People should not worry about twhat is on the outiside, but the inside. This is the point I am making. also I am not a materilaistic person. I do not wear brand names. I have a 15 year old car. I have an average computer.

I live in a normal sized house. I do not need materialistic stuff. I am happy with my life. People put stock in things that are not important. The materialsitic society is part of the reason that the world has gone downhill. People worry about tmeanignless stuff like shoes, clothes, having the best car, that they forget about what is improtant. Materialsim has made the world a worse place.

maybe you don't have a big house, nice shoes, or nice car because you can't afford it. I'm sure that if you had a lot of money you would have those things instead of a 15 year old car and a normal size house. it easy to say you don't need this and you don't need that when you don't have access to it.

I could buy nicer things If I want, but I choose not to. I really am not materialsitic. I beleive materilaism has ruined our cultrue. People spend money on things they do not need, when they could be spending money on more improtant things. Also most people who spend money on fashionable clothes just follow the trends like zombies and have no individuality,

As far as I know I'm a girl and I there's no way I could be more indifferent towards shoes. Well without the shoes there is no outfit. You need a lot of different shoes to go with different outfits. Such as who would want a girl in a nice skirt and top and then wearing old sneakers, I don't think a lot of guys would. So we need to be able to match and look good and the shoes pull it all together.

I understand that everything does not go with everyhting, but a girl only needs really one pair of heels, or drees shoes, one pair of snakers, and one pair of boots. Hells could go with any skirt, and nice top really. And one pair the same with bootsm with a nice outfit.

Some of my female friends on Facebook have pictures of their closets with all their shoes. Some of these musthave ten of thousands of dollars worth of shoes. That is ridiculous. TI is such a waste of money that could be used for really meanignful stuff. There is no need to buy more shoes than one needs.

my dad also takes so much care about his shoes. he doesn't have many pairs of them, but he always keeps them super-cleaned. he told me that strange people in the streets always look at your shoes, because shoes tell them much about your personality. I don't know if its true, but after he told me that I started staring peoples shoes. for me it is also not important to have many shoes, but to have clean, not destroyed shoes

the difference between snow boots and uggs are if you get uggs wet they stain but snow boot could be for like playing in the snow. And maybe she wants one short boots and one high boots. I can see why you have all of those except sling back heels and low flats. and its OK I have just about that many too but different types. :)

just because some1 has a lot of something does not always mean they don't have their priorities straight. I don;t think you realize that there are 365 days in a year...to wear 1 pair of shoe for allll those days is gross(especially if your able to afford more than 1 pair)...have some variety.
