Is smiling considered flirting?

I'm the type of person who tends to smile at everyone. Whether you're a stranger or a friend, I guess it's my way of trying to start conversations. Personally I really don't know how to flirt. I had to ask my ex once, on how to do it. I thought flirting involved some sort of touching, the hair toss, or a wink, the pick up lines, etc. Do guys take a smile as a sign that a women's interested? I feel bad cause I think I've given guys the wrong impression, where my intentions were simply just to talk.

Depends on the context you smile in.

Here's what you do:

Look someone in the eyes and hold it for a moment, then smile and say, "hi" - when in doubt, flash your panties. I'm serious.

When I was a senior in high school, I kept running into this girl who went to college, and she was very friendly to me and asked me lots of questions. I totally was attracted to her, but I honestly just thought she wanted info and was a nice person, she even kissed me on the cheek and gave me her number and I still didn't get it - then she flashed me her panties, then I got it - and well we went out for over a year before I moved away to go to college myself - and it was a great relationship and I almost didn't go to school over it - yes we did have sex, eventually, after about a month - but I didn't think she was a skank or assume I was going to "get some" over it - it just took her doing that for the wheels to click in my head - yes, sometimes guys can really be that dense - especially to very attractive girls.

Sadly, smiling can be considered flirting by some guys. The horrible truth is that many women simply do not go around smiling at men because they don't want to seem over-friendly. This means that when us poor hapless beasts come across such a wonderful thing as a smiling lady, we get all confused and our hormones kick in like a shot of morphine in the arm.

Do you have a boyfriend/partner? I often use the tactic of talking about my partner if I want to be friendly but give a clear initial indication of where I stand. I find it a useful habit when drinking out without her to keep me out of trouble!

Please don't stop smiling at men though - there are so few of you who still do it!
