I never did understand the logic behind this... you're only keeping away the people that respect you by wearing the ring if you're not married or taken.
Anyone who still approaches you that is a jerk, you are still going to have to deal with.
You may not be in the mood to meet anyone, but what if you met that really great guy or gal and you perked up and felt a little better? Now they think you're taken and the situation is a loss. If I was talking to a woman and she removed a ring, I wouldn't fully trust her, and maybe she was trying to cheat on someone with me.
Kind of amusing to me since I'm more of a pessimistic thinker, but I am an optimist when it comes to this false "taken" ring phenomenon. Better to not wear it and hope for the best.

Some of my girl friends do wear rings on their right or left ring fingers just so that they don't get hit on as much. And apparently it works well for them. I have also noticed that some others will put it on, just a way to show their boyfriends that they are serious and are willing to put this on. Hint hint. But this one is just my observation as I have never asked them why they did that.
Half the time I don't even notice my rings! They feel like they're a part of my body, I had to look down at my hands to notice them lol!
Well I wear my class ring and a ring that my mother has had for a long time. When she passes away I will inherit her rings, and will wear the most important ones. Of course the spot on my left hand is reserved for if I ever find someone.
I know of a blue hedgehog that collects and hords rings. Where does he keep them all? He obviously doesn't wear them lol
I mainly just wear rings because they look good, and while I might wear them on my right ring finger, I would never wear something on my left ring finger casually unless I was engaged/married. Well, I do have a simple little gold band and a cheap fake diamond ring that I sometimes wear on my left ring finger when I go out if I'm not in the mood to deal with guys. But I very rarely wear that.
If my boyfriend gave me a ring, yeah, I'd wear it.
Actually yes I would just for the fun of it and when I have somebody - I would always wear a ring on my left finger for guys to leave me alone and not hit on me, my friends do it too and even guys - I just happen to know a guy that's a math tutor in my school and he's very attractive so every time he has a girl he wears a ring either on his left or right finger - so it isn't even girls!
Most of my friends and I wear rings just for fun. Although, if I'm really committed to someone I will wear a single ring on my right ring finger. Its my way of saying that I'm taken without making a deal out of it.
If my boyfriend bought me any rings I would definitely wear them, though:)

I've given my girl all kinds of rings, and she wears them on all fingers. She likes rings. Of course, now she's engaged, so she wears her diamond on her left hand. She wore other rings before on her left ring finger, too. I think it just depends on how much jewelry a girl wants to wear.
When you go ring shopping for a girl you'll discover all kinds of interesting things such as that they wear what you call "fun rings" which are not appropriate for sizing her ring size.
I've given rings as presents and while they wore them on occasion, when it matched the outfit or occasion, they never wore them on their left/right ring finger. I'd be a tad freaked out if they did. This is quite a cute question ^ ^
Most likely when a girls wear ring, or any type of jewelry for that matter, it's because she wants to look good/better.
If a girl wears a ring and I like it, I'd ask her what's the story behind it.
If the ring looks funny on her, then I'd make fun of it. :DIf a boyfriend gave me a ring yes I would wear it. Not on my ring finger though. As far as any other rings on any finger, they are just rings. Most girls like jewlery and rings are pretty. There is no mystery behind it.
Yep she might. It's called a promise ring. Also there is a promise ring between mothers and daughters to stay a virgin until marriage. Uhm some are just worn because the girl just likes how it looks.
I wear a cross ring on my left ring finger not because I am dating anybody but because I am committed to Christ. It's kinda like a promise ring in a way, the right guy hasn't found me yet.
If it's a class ring, or a ring that looks like it may have some significance, then possibly. But some girls, such as myself, wear rings when they look good, or just for fun. It all depends.
Most girls wear rings for fun, most of my friends when they are dating wear rings like saying I'm with someone right now.
