Silly question but if a guy is interested in a girl will he ask her a lot of questions? For instance about her school life, major, work. etc? Or is he just being friendly?

Sometimes they're interested. Sometimes they're just being nice. I'm going through this now with a guy I like. The best way to tell if he is interested in you is to really observe him in contact with other people. Sometimes guys are just friendly types. He is social and asks lots of people questions about themselves. I'm like this, so it's almost impossible for a person to tell that I think they're special because I'm really good at making everyone feel special. Even the check out person lol. This is great and not great...

In short, you will generally have to see him in different situations to know what's up, unless he starts to be direct. The best thing you can do if you're interested is to be just as curious about him and hold his interest by being open in your answers and, equally inquisitive about him.

I think when paired with other signs of attraction then it could definitely mean that he's interested. On it's own, it could possibly mean he is at least slightly interested, but it's much more likely that he's just being cordial if there at no other signs.

Is he just asking questions one after the other? Asking a lot of questions is a good way to flirt. If he's complimenting while asking questions, he's probably flirting. If he's just asking questions - and not flirting - doesn't mean he's not attracted to you. He at least wants to be friends.
