I'm stuck in a "flirtationship"... help?

Flirtationship (n) – A social situation that comprises more than a friendship, but less than a relationship.

I'm close friends with this guy and he used to like me a while back. I'm not sure how his feelings are towards me now, but whenever we hang out we do couple-like things that you wouldn't normally do if you were friends. He hugs me a lot (especially from behind), tickles me, picks me up, and we just cuddle a lot... and the last time we hung out, there was a moment when I thought he was about to kiss me but didn't. We also talk to each other everyday about our problems, funny things, and our crushes occasionally... Last week he told me about this other girl that he had feelings for but he doesn't anymore.
This has been going on for a while and I feel like I'm stuck in this place where there might be mutual feelings but nothing is ever done about it.
What do I do?

First question you ask him: "Would you ever date me?"
Follow up question if he says something along the lines of "yes": "Do you like me more than a friend?"

That should give him room to seal the deal. As in ask you out. If he doesn't then... well... plan C is always a valid option... kiss him! Now most nice guys don't go in for the kiss because they are afraid of rejection, and are still trying to find out if this girl would be accepting of it, but if the girl does it... well that's a different story. I'd suggest asking these questions in private just in case you want to resort to plan C cx
