I told her that she's very special to me and that I miss her?

She asked me why. It was the first time I had ever really said that she was special to me. The other day, when I told her I want her, she said "I'm nothing special", I didn't know what to say but just now I said "you're very special to me". And the reason I gave her was many reasons but the main serious reason is that we've known each other for a year. I've a hard time keeping girl "friends" and for her and I to have known each other that long really means a lot to me. The silly answer is that she happens to be something I love and she knows I like it but I think she just likes to hear it.

Did I make a mistake by saying this since when I said "I want you" she said "I'm nothing special"?

My personal opinion: the mistake you made was doing it over texts. People here will soon know that i hate texting with a passion, because it can be misinterpreted and is often the cause for MANY insecurities. You should have asked to see her, for something casual, and then told her face to face.

But seeing as you've done it already, the only thing i can say, is don't say anything for a few days. Let her come to you. If she doesn't text you within, say, 3 days, just ask to see her. Do it casually as if you didn't say anything at all.

Until then, keep yourself busy. Place your focus on something else to help take your mind off it, and wait for her to come to you. As previous posters have said, she's probably thinking and needs the time and space.

No, I only did it in text. She hasn't responded to why she is. That was 3 hours ago :(
