Buying Starbucks for a girl?

At my college there is a girl I've seen a few times in our campus Starbucks. I've wanted to talk to her but never really had a reason to. My question is... the next time I am there in line and she is there too, what if when I order my drink I give the barista $5 to pay for the girls drink when it is her turn to order (assuming she is behind me in line).
Would that be weird for a random guy to pay for your Starbucks out of the blue, or is it an okay ice breaker?

Most girls would be flattered and at least say Thank you... But one girl actually got a free drink and was mad because she said "Oh he thinks that I can't afford this drink"... But she was kind of crazy and the total Bitch type who thinks she's in charge of everything and everyone

Man, I go to starbucks like everyday. If a Serial Killer Pays for my shit I am going to nod and wave at him politely. That shit is way to expensive and like crack in a cup so he would deserve my smile if he payed for me...

well starbucks did do a whole pay it forward thing so if she doesn't reciprocate feelings you can always fall back on that.
