How long should I wait to text or call after exchanging numbers? Is text or call better?

I met this really cool girl at a bar the other night. Her friends and mine shot pool. We exchanged some laughs, etc. I told her that we should do this again, but maybe one on one next time. I asked if she wanted to take mine or if I should take hers, and we did the number exchange. Now I'm trying to decide how long I should wait to call, and what's next. Sometimes I think that I come off as overly interested, which doesn't give girls a chance to really get to know me.

You snooze, you lose is my motto in life, sweetie. Tis the holidays coming up and if you Might not have any plans for the New Year, perhaps by giving her a call even as soon as this weekend, could get the ball rolling for This----One on one the next time.
Just some food for thought to throw your way being this is an advantage with Christmas and New Years rolling around very soon. Or if New years is not what you may have had in mind, then perhaps give her a call this weekend to make plans which would be best suited for both your schedules, to share a cup of cheer very soon.
