Why does this guy look at me when he laughs at something or whenever I laugh at something?

We're in middle school. Ok, I like this guy on my bus but we don't talk that much because we never started a conversation with each other. Anyways, he always looks at me when he laughs at something. For example, my friend Alex sits by him on the bus and he had said something funny and the guy had laughed at it and while he was laughing he was looking at me. Also, when I laugh at my friend Alex's jokes and when I laugh, I see the guy staring at me. When I'm not looking, I have this tiny feeling that the guy is looking at me. One time I decided to see if he was looking at me so I looked at him and he was looking down at my shoes and smiling (I had Jordan shoes on). He sometimes look away when I look at him. Sometimes when I look at him he smiles.
