You said he is cute guy at work? okay but then do you know him personally, have you had any conversations with him before, not hello, hi and all, simple conversations which lasts a while? have you such conversations? .
I would say it's weird if you don't know him at all, it's not suggested that you ask for his number directly, he will be taken aback as well, he will think of it as weird if you do so.
Yes, I would find it weird if a woman just came up and asked me for my number, I wouldn't give it to her.

Why don't you just write your number on a slip of paper and pass it to him?
No, I wouldn't find that weird, but maybe you should pay attention to his body language before you ask him - open body language suggests he is willing to interact and to communicate.
That's still kind of obvious lol. I wouldn't hit on him while he's on the clock though, I used to work at Macy's and he can get in a lot of trouble if he actually continues the conversation. You wouldn't want him to get fired I'm sure. Just be friendly maybe you'll run into him when he's either coming into work or leaving and then you can make your move
I honestly wouldn't use the "I was interested in working here line" because he might just start seeing you in a professional manner ( just a coworker). Not saying he will for sure, but I wouldn't use that line.
I would just ask him if he wanted to grab tea or coffee on his upcoming break or after work some time.
Nope. Not weird. =)
Why would it be weird?
Just ask him out...
And if you want his number for a date, not for a job... just be honest. These kinds of things don't pan out if you blindside him like that...
Trust me, learned my lesson.

No, don't go there. He's on the clock, and if he wants to keep his job, he has to be nice to the shoppers. Which means he can't say 'no' easily.
If you want to do something, quietly give him YOUR number and then don't bother him again. (maybe your mobile number, "coffee sometime? text me") But if someone's at work, they can't avoid you easily, so remember that and don't make it awkward for them.People working don't normally have a lot of time to chat, so this circumstance i would be kinda forward and say something like "Hey, i would like to get to know you better, can i have your number" or if you wanted to do it the other way, have a piece of paper with your number already on it, give to him and say "Text me ;)" and actually wink
I'd just be honest about it sweetheart, you don't need to make up silly excuses to talk to someone you're interested in. If her turns you down too bad but at least you tried and that's good enough. And yeah maybe it'd seem a little odd but hey. Plus you shouldn't be embarrassed it's your attraction and business it is none of the other customers' business. I mean I'm just saying do what you gotta do if you really think you might be into this guy.

No because if he does call you he will find out you dont really want a job there then what? Just ask him out and get on with it already i have been in your shoes before and wasted so much time over something so simple because of shyness over a cashier girl.
I don't think you need the "I want to work here" line if you don't. I think you could just say "you look like s great person to know, wanna meet up at some point?" And then you will need to get his number anyways if he is interested.
Of course you should ask for it, how else will you get it? I wouldn't use that line though unless there are customers. Being discreet is good but if there's no one else there just let him know your intentions it's just better that way.
No need to make up crap. Just write down your number and say "Call me sometime?"
Weird isn't quite the word... Awkward. And then what do you have in common with this fellow?
Yes because he might already have a girlfriend and could be a MURDER!!!
No don't get his number for fake reasons.
That is perfect do that - go for it !!!
The idea is awesome go through with it
Its not weird just find a better way to ask.
