Calling someone cute?

Guys would you tell a girl she's "cute" if you like her? Sometimes when girls say that word we don't mean it like "oh he's cute." And girls do you also feel the stigma from that word?

"Cute" always seemed to me a less endearing yet more tactful way of telling a person they have a good appearance. I wouldn't say it necessarily would mean I am interested in her.
