How can I tell if a girl is creeped out? What's a way for me to avoid it?

I have no idea what I did. I just go up to people and say hi to them. A couple of girls just look at me like I came from Mars and they act all creeped out when I said hi to them.

So how would I know if a girl is creeped out? How can I avoid it? Is it my fault? was it their fault for being shallow?

they're just being dumb. I don't see how you saying hi is creepy in any way unless we're talking 2am at night in some creepy alleyway, and beer in hand.. haha which I don't think is the case here.

it also depends how old they were. if they are like 16-17, then it's useless. girls at that age think most guys who aren't super hot must be creepy.

i guess a way to avoid being seen as creepy, would be to just be laid-back, outgoing, and smiling. don't be too flirtatious at the get-go so they don't think you're talking to them because you think they are attractive, but you're just talking because you're outgoing in nature. that makes you seem more normal and interesting in general.

don't make too much eye contact at first so they don;t think they're the center of attention. I would give more pointers, but really, it is all context-dependent, so idk.

I do that all the time and girls still think I'm creepy. I'm too ugly for them and all they want are the good looking guys, which I am not. I can't make them like me. If there was a way to improve my appearance then I would be seen as less creepy to them.

I can't say with 100% assurance, but if in general if you do that and it still has negative results, perhaps superficiality is mostly the cause.

I also think age and presentation matter. Age, once again, like I said, if we're talking 16-17 year olds, then they're still in that "what and who is cool" mentality, so looks are important.

For presentation, I think with outgoing strangers, if you have say some gothic kid vs a preppy kid, the preppy will win out and the gothic will be creepy.

So I guess mode of dress can also exert an effect.

I'd say next time some dumb chick and her friend act all creeped out like that, say something like "my, my, do we have a big ego or what? don't flatter yourself, I'm just talking to you 'cause I like talking to people. jeez." in a joking way. wave em off and don't pay em anymore mind.

Okay.. gotta say I agree with this being depending on the situation. the girls you're hanging out with and so on. BUT I will say most girls like guys who are not reallly super talkative or initiative...reason being, girls love to feel special and if they can get you to talk to them and you don't talk to everyone, that's a mission. If you aren't super nice and talky, they'll want to get you to want to talk to them. We are sooo weird like that, don't ask why :P BUT if by nature you like to be friendly and outgoing, do not change that for girls that are snotty or whatever. Find girls who like that kind of personality and opening to a conversation and then being friends with them will show you are nor "creepy" and it'll work out :)

you should compliment them first and try not be be overdramatic. I sometimes say hi to people and it does feel awkward when people don't even say hi back. That means that those people who are "weirded" out need to trust you more before they even recognize you. Yeah, they could be superficial and don't say hi because you are "beneath" them. Yeah, don't take things personal though, keep saying hi to people and they will be grateful for you many times over.
