Well , it depends upon individuals , i prefer not to give any nickname that might hurt her , but frankly speaking you give nasty names among your friends lyk dog , garbage , acid :D during my scul days!!! But nicknames can be sweet too, you need to be a little clear !!!

It depends on the kind of nickname it is. It depends on whether he sees you as a kid sister, of he respects you, and so on. I know a guy who used to call his girl, "hey, stupid," when he walked in and kissed his 10/10 valedictorian girlfriend-soon-fiancee hello every afternoon at the school library. She didn't seem to mind, but if anyone ever called me that it would have bothered me. (No, they're not together anymore... perhaps it bothered her too in the end!)

I know this sound general and like 'duh', but really I know some guys will not give nickname to their girlfriend even though they are deeply in love.

On the flipside, sometime my friends give bad nicknames to the people they do not like.

It depends on the name. If it's cute then he does. If it's mocking, he doesn't. Fore instance, I knew a girl named Lily and I called her Lilz because she was tiny. But then I knew another girl and I called her The Blob. It all depends.
