Crush vs. Liking? What the heck is the difference?!

What the heck is the difference?! Haha a guy who I used to like a lot just told me yesterday that he has a crush on me. I asked him how long he has liked me. His response: it's more like a crush. Does that mean a Fu** buddy?

I'd take that to mean that he admires you, maybe admires you a lot...

But for some reason he's not quite at the point where he wants to get involved in a non-platonic relationship with you just yet. Maybe he already has a girlfriend or he feels he doesn't know you well enough yet.

I don't think it automatically means you don't have a chance with him.

I guess that crushes are somewhat less personal than liking someone, because people have crushes on celebrities that they don't even know that well. So that's the basic difference, although to me, it's not a big distinction and I wouldn't say that to a girl directly unless I also liked her...

Crush seems less personal.  You can have a crush on the girl in the class you've never spoken to, but you can't like her yet because you don't even know who the f*** she is.

I think a crush is more like when you see someone you're infatuated with and attracted to but don't know them that well...but you think about them but still don't know them and I think liking someone has to do more with your personality and liking the person for who they are. I think crushes have to do more with attraction...but I'm not completely sure...everyone has their own definition. ask him what he means by it.

they are both the same basically. and just because he said it was more like a crush doesn't mean that he wants to be f*** buddies. just more like he likes you but probably doesn't really want to make or do anything to have a relationship more than friends.

A crush is just kinda of an attraction or maybe an infatuation with a person taht you barely know but when you like someone you actually know the person and have spent time with then s0o0o you know abou them.

a crush is something that happens suddenly and goes just as fast. liking some one in that context is something deeper, usually you love them. the longest crush I had was 2 weeks. on the other hand I was into this girl in middle school and never completely got over her. at least that was the difference where I grew up.

To me, crush is like a temporary thing where you don't know too much about the other person but you just have a thing for them. Then crushing evolves to liking, which is more of an infatuation/obsession.

I would say that when you have a "crush" somebody, you just in passing think they are cute..good eyecandy!..(u may or may not know much about them)...when you "like" someone you actually know some 411 on the chic/guy, you want 2 get 2 know more about  that person ..

Everyone has their own opinion.. but when I say I have a crush on someone I mean I love them.. like aww I love you. Crushing is like aw you're adorable, but I wouldn't date you. When I like someone I actually like them and want to be with them.
