You're not giving me enough info. If you never smiled at me, or in general, I'd think you weren't interested in me in the first place. That's a real confidence killer. If I was a drop dead gorgeous girl or if you were crushing me, I'd definitely expect you to drop some hints - some fairly obvious. Especially if there's a different race involved. If you're not going to approach girls, you at least need to give them some sign that you wouldn't mind. We're not mind readers, but we're good at body language, even subtle. Like if you walked past my desk and rested your hand briefly on my shoulder (don't touch bare skin), like you're just trying to make sure I don't get pushed. Smiling at me briefly, making friendly eye contact. Leaving me a note with something funny on it.

Trust me, even then, most girls won't approach, but they'd feel more confident in your potential attraction. We're super insecure because we're constantly judged for our looks. I would approach you, but I'm different. I've approached lots of quiet guys and felt like the vibe I got was the finger. It's really intimidating, especially when you're not even helping me.

Approach. Get hurt. Get over it. Grab life by the horns. No matter how good looking or smooth you are, you'll still get rejected. Lots of times. Misunderstanding. Bad timing. Lack of Compatibility. Whatever. NOn Available. Just plain Rude. Just take it gracefully and keep trying. No need to confess or whatever. Just try to make a casual connection, or make them laugh. Just be sure not to approach someone if you're not really interested (like for kicks or just for attention), cause you'll regret it if they start crushing on you. *sigh

I probably would not approach one because I'm shy myself, but I think its super cute when guys are quiet and keep to themselves and are not obnoxious.

It usually would take a situation where we're put together (ex: a class in school or a job) to get to know him. I always have to figure out a guy before I find myself attracted to him.
But, I will say, I do like quiet guys.
