I casually dated this guy for 2 months LD over the summer, he talked to me for hours everyday, we were physical when I went and visited him, he seemed to really like me, trust me, etc. Then he told me he went on a date with another girl (it didn't work out and this is like 2 days after) and then I decided to break up with him, he was shocked, but said OK. When I asked what was going through his head he said there was another girl there who liked him and he liked her too and had been hanging out with her the past 5 days but didn't break up with me because it didn't feel right. Well, he moved on straight away the next day with her (I think even got very physical-he has known her awhile though) and a week later made her official. They've been dating now for 2.5 months.
Now, the thing is, he imed me eagerly merely a week after they started dating asking how I was, then liked a status, then imed me again asking me to go to lunch once I got back on campus--which he never went through with. Then we saw each other on campus and walked quickly by one another ( I didn't even see him) and he stopped me and again said willingly "I'll hit you up sometime." 2 weeks go by, no contact... then he ims me last night saying "hey, how are classes going for you?" I just ignored him. This happened over the span of 2.5 months, he always initiates contact.He could just be being nice, but at the same time, if he really wanted to be my friend.. he would have no problem going through with hanging out with me like he says he wants to.. I just don't get the frequency of him being nice to me.. why? Does he feel sorry for me? want me as a backup? what is it?
