Are childhood crushes (pre-puberty) real?

Absolutely.
I had a crush on a girl since the first day of 3rd Grade in September 1971. I still send her emails on her birthday. Last I saw her was 25 years ago when I SHOULD have gotten together with her, but I was heart broken over another beautiful blonde who would ALMOST get back together with me over the next 3 months.

Yep, still perfectly real. One of the better examples of real love I can think of. It’s not based on lust, or sex, or status. But genuine affection for the other person.

i wouldn't say that they are real, my cousin had 4 boyfriends when she was 6 so i think that those crushes are just jokes ;p

I had a crushes on Bella Thorne and Selena Gomez when I was, like... 9, 10, 11?
Now that's a past memory.
But as far as real life...
They're real to them at the time, but as they grow up, they will move on to other people. Very few childhood crushes get together and get married, and few of those few stay together for 30+ years (for instance, say they met at 5, got married at 22, and stayed married for 10+ more years.)

No. They are superficial at that age a child doesn't know what actual love is and cannot tell that they are feeling infatuation for the person they think they love.
