Talking to strangers in a gym?

So There is this rather attractive girl in my local gym, all right she's super hot. I'm not that bad looking either, but how would the general reaction be f one would casually start to speak to a stranger.

Tread lightly. Most people like to be left alone when they are at the gym. She may be the nicest person in the world, but if she senses that you are coming around because you're trying to make an approach, then she might be a little standoffish. I could be wrong, but the gym seems like one of those places where it's not the best place to be trying to "score", in whatever sense of the word.

It depends on the girl. I know some girls just go to the gym to exercise, not to socialize, but then again some girls enjoy having a chat in between exercises. I've come across both types, and usually if they don't wanna chat, they're polite about it. Just don't make it so obvious that you're into her, just pick the right tine to approach her.

honestly, this happens so often that it's an every day occurrence. not as complicated or as hard as you make it seem. strangers talk to me all the time all over the place

It's kind of tough to begin talking to a girl in the gym without making it obvious you like her. I recommend the casual approach for this kind of setting. If you are seen talking to a bunch of different people in the gym then she will feel less threatened and more comfortable when you approach her because she will assume that you are just a very talkative guy.
