How to get to know this guy in my college class?

He is fine! And he sits in the back of my history lecture class but the problem is I sit in the front so it would look suspicious if I suddenly sit in the back. So what should I do because there are so many people in the class

Go to class early and move to the back? Is there an empty seat around where he sits? You don't want to end up sitting in someone else's chair if that person is "protective of their seat" lol. But if you get there early, he might not (or he might notice) but it won't be as noticeable. Don't talk to him though the first time. Maybe he'll initiate conversation if he does notice, like, "Don't you usually sit up front?" To which you could always say, "His voice gives me a headache when he lectures, so I moved back" or something witty like that, even if it isn't true. "He spits everywhere!" lol. If there is not initiation, you could always ask a question related to school on another day to get his attention and begin talking. Ask a question about a paper or something that you have to do in that class. Did you Facebook him already to see if he's single? It'd be a waste to do all that effort and find out he's taken. Once you've found a way to formally be introduced, you can have a casual conversation every once in a while and eventually add him (via Facebook) which is generally a cheesy, but simple, way of showing some sort of interest. You can leave class when he leaves sometimes, walking along side him (but not with him) as if to not really be paying attention to him, and maybe he'll say something while walking. Or you can "notice him" and ask him a question while walking. Simple little tricks and stuff like that could initiate a decent conversation. Compliment his shoes and style. Or something like that.

maybe arrange a study group and either you invite him to join or have someone else in the group invite him. or bump into him before or after class and say something about the material like this: like oh my god did you know that guy on the dollar bill was our first president? omg history is just so awesome.

ask him a question about something situationally relevant. maybe something about the class, a test or something and try to let it segue into a conversation from there. unless you have a 20 min conversation you don't have to go in for the kill right away. If you've talked to him once, it won't seem weird or anything to talk to him again and go from there. scared of being reject eh? now you know what we guys have to deal with.

I'm in university and totally know how you feel, because lectures are such awkward pick up places. I'd say come in a little late one day - not extremely late, say 5 minutes or so, and sit near him. When the prof takes a little break or there's an opportunity for you to do so, ask him if you missed anything coming in late. I don't really know where that'll lead you but it could work as an ice breaker.

I had the same situation last term, but the guy and I just checked each other out all class and he finally came up and introduced himself one day after lecture. So that could always work too.

well I'm not shy I can't read other guys mind someone on yahoo answers told me I should pass a note what do you think about that?

If you're not shy then I say definitely go for it! But at the same time, you don't want to come across as too strong. It's definitely an asset that you're forward (as am I, but have learned from experience sometimes I'm too forward.. men are ridiculous), but maybe ask him a few questions then introduce yourself; that way it shows you're not too afraid to take the lead but it's not coming across too strong.

You could discuss upcoming tests, assignments, or essays, ask him a question about something you don't understand in the course. Or do you mean you don't know what to write in the note?

I like the idea of coming in late. But there might not be a seat open. Don't pass a note, that is high school. I would honestly go sit in the back next to him and say I usually sit in the front but I wanted to see the view from the back. Hopefully he'll try and interact with you, to better your chance try and lock eyes for a couple of classes before you go to the back so he knows you might be interested. Or if not you'll have to time out when you leave to bump in to him or when you leave.

Show up two minutes before and hope you can get a spot next to him. Once you get the first chance to sit next to him take it. If you don't mind asking for his number then do it, I'm sure he'll give it to you.

it might not be too suspicious if you sat in the back but didn't talk to him right away or maybe try asking him a question or commenting on the class work to him in the hall or some other place outside the classroom, good luck, hope it works out and if not then there is someone else out there who might be just a good a match for you :)

Talk to him after class... walk and talk with him until he goes to another class. And if you got the guts, ask for a study group before a test day and be sure to invite him.

Just go up to him and ask. You can probably tell from my comments that I don't personally like when people are so hesitant and afraid to get what they want. Its a turnoff for me.

When you talk to him, just talk about history...its a good starting point. Then other stuff that you would like. And when you want his number, just ask. I bet you that if you asked any guy in the class for their number, you will most likely get one. Its no different with this guy,

Approach him before or after class. Talk to him about the subject matter or the teacher or whatever. Exchange contact info.

I don't see what's wrong with what I've proposed? Why would you need to "read his mind"?

Note passing is "high school"-ish, and a really passive approach. Having a girl approach you tells a guy that she's confident and has a strong interest.

its just its really hard to get his attention when he is waiting to sit I class then eager to leave, that would mean I would have to follow him which is more high school ish and worse crazy
