Guy friend from college wants to meet?

He suddenly hit me up and said he wanted to talk to me in person. He's thousands of miles away from me and he's planning to come to our old city. He says that he feels connected to me even though we weren't that close, and that's why he keeps talking to me even now. He also said that he always felt that I was the most matured in our class. We've had a very difficult four years in university and it's affected us even after we graduated, he said he wants to talk about that and a lot of stuff in person. It's been five years since we graduated, so why's he reaching out to me now?
