My boyfriend and I have been together for basically 2 years. Having guy/girl friends is really the only issue we have, I’m the one who has guy friends that I’ve known for years. In one incident before, he asked me to stop texting one of my close guy friends because he felt something would happen. My guy friend is in a committed relationship and our conversations are always respectful. My boyfriend decided to be petty and flirt with some girl he knew, called her his mistress and everything. I told him to block her and he told me to block my guy friend, which I did.
My boyfriend is now asking me to end my friendship with another guy friend whom I see regularly at college, I’m older than this guy friend, so he sees me as his older sister (which my boyfriend does not buy). He is also in a relationship, our conversations are always respectful. My boyfriend is uncomfortable with the fact that I would plan to meet up with him at school. He once again became petty and texted this girl in our neighborhood. One conversation they had went way too far in my opinion. I ended up texting her from his phone making it known that he has a girlfriend and that if such conversation took place, to let me know and I will dump him. I went a bit overboard and changed my contact name and picture and pinned her messages. I also left and slept in my room. He was more upset that I left him in his room and I changed my contact name.
He apologized once more, he felt that something had to happen between me and my guy friend, for me to get upset and refuse to stop hanging with him. This is not the case at all, I’m upset about having to give up my friendships and feel that my boyfriend's behavior is unfair. My boyfriend said he wants me all to himself, that he doesn’t want me making guys laugh and smile. He said he doesn’t want someone who is friendly. I understand his frustration and I know we have to make our partners happy but this hurts to have to say goodbye to friends.
